We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Godinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Ositos Chili Gummies as a side hustle after I gave birth to my first baby. It was a way for me to make some extra cash on the side to help with expenses.
What should our readers know about your business?
At Ositos Chili Gummies, we make our own signature chili blend and use it to coat a variety of candies that everyone loves. We also created the Miche-Bombs that went viral on Tik Tok in 2020, a fizzy bomb that you drop in your beer or drink of choice and it turns it into a delicious michelada.
I am very proud of how far I have come along because I did it all on my own, no help from any big investors or companies. I spent many days away from my family, missed family events and stayed up late several nights.
This journey was definitely no easy. I struggled with other “chili candy” businesses bullying me and trying to make me quit but I never gave up! I kept my head up, minded my own business and kept looking forward towards my dreams and goals.
Starting a business is never easy, or else everyone would be doing it. As long as it is something you are truly passionate about, keep going and don’t let anyone stop you. You hold the key to your own success!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shout out to 3 special people. My husband for ALWAYS supporting me, encouraging to follow my dreams, helping me make product and always being there at every pop up to help set up and sell my candies. My aunt Nancy for being my right hand. When I decide to do this full time she was with me every day helping me pack orders and helping me drop everything off at the post office. Lastly my mom, she has been my babysitter for every time we’ve had to go to a pop up to sell or even on nights when we’ve had to work late to get orders done and shipped.
