We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Stolp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
In July of 2018 I was using the GI bill to get my Business degree. My summer was completely free to do whatever I wanted, due to my diligent saving during my years in the service. However, I only lasted 2 weeks without a painstaking project. 4 hours after searching on Craigslist, I bought an Ambulance. That ridiculous purchase changed my life. As I tinkered with my ambulance, turning it into a travel rig, I finished up my degree at SDSU. In school I kept hearing about adding value to the world. I grew up working on cars, building houses and was educated in advanced computer electronics in the Navy. How can I take these skills, apply them, and add value to the world? The answer was sitting in my driveway the entire time. Building camper vans requires a multitude of skills and my trade intensive upbringing was a great foundation for this field. In short, the thought process for starting this journey is to gather your skills and apply them. Stay focused and proud of your work and always strive to be the best in your field.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We turn Ambulances into fully capable off grid homes. These trucks have solar, freshwater supply, climate control, and any amenity a home could offer. Our current build has a bamboo steam room inside just to give you an idea of how far we take these things.

Instagram has been a big driving factor in my business. I’m a pretty weird goofy guy and it’s given me a lot of traction on social media. My pure confidence in my work drove my self confidence and that’s brought us a ton of positive relationships in the community. Nothing is “easy”. I’ve always looked forward since I started and I don’t waiver when times are tough.

People should know that Stolp Solutions is dedicated to quality and art. We treat each vehicle as an absolute piece of art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I thought I was only answering one question. This is a lengthy interview. However, South Park is tight.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout out goes to my carpenter David Levethal aka The Gnarpenter. His skills and attention to detail help bring these crazy van builds to life. He always has a positive attitude and loves his job.
