We had the good fortune of connecting with Bergé Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bergé, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor to my salons success is to always offer a very high end experience. From the minute the client walks in the door to the luxurious hair washes, drinks we offer, products. Also the salon is very clean. We take pride in making sure we always have a very clean, sanitary salon.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hair is my creative job but my true passion is decorating. I think having gone to fashion design school, hair school and have taken many art classes that has all contributed to me discovering my true passion in decorating spaces.. That is reflected in Paloma Salon as well as my own home. I am most proud of Paloma Salon. I completely gutted it from a 50 year old beauty shop into a eclectic luxury hair salon. Color has always affected me in a very positive way. I think color and decor as well as hair color can change peoples life. Color and decorating can create a very positive mood and the proper hair color can also really make someone feel great about themselves..

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to cantina Mayahuel for some tacos and tequila then for a hike at sunset cliffs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has always supported my decisions and encouraged me to follow all my crazy ideas I have. I would also say my Mentor would be Heather Northcote of Goldline Salon. I was her assistant almost 20 years ago and she taught me everything about hair.
