Meet Kim Tinoco | Entrepreneur, Owner of Empowered One

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Tinoco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kim, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I honestly had no plans of starting a business. My whole purpose was to start an Instagram page about women empowerment. I started posting daily motivational quotes, feature women entrepreneurs and just be that woman who stands up for other women. I came up with a crazy idea of wanting to design shirts that said “Boss Babes”. The purpose of that was to show that us women work hard to reach our goals. All those simple things lead to something bigger and more opportunities for me to let my creativity show. I’ve used my creativeness to make different things from designing shirts, stickers, custom logos and now resin keychains. This was all from motivation to be able to show others that you can really do anything.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It was not easy starting a business, until now I’m still learning along the way. Motivation got me to where I am now. I just never gave up. I set goals for myself to achieve and I’ve definitely reached those goals. The more I kept going and trying to fix the mistakes I was making, the more things got easier with time. My business is all about empowerment… that’s how I came up with my business name “Empowered One” because I empower individuals to believe in themselves, no matter how different everyone is. Never give up is what I always tell myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am born and raised in San Diego. There’s so many places that I enjoy going to like Seaport Village. I love being by the water and just getting fresh air, enjoying some seafood dishes. There’s so many things to enjoy in San Diego.. going to car shows, pop up events or even just to hang out at the park, taking nice pictures.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s too many names to mention! Everyone in the small business community who I now call my friends deserve the acknowledgement… they know who they are. When I have days where I feel unmotivated, they would always tell me to never give up. Keep going! Those who inspire you to be your best self and who believe in you are your REAL friends,
