Meet Devyn Iglehart | Real Estate Professional (Isellhomes)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Devyn Iglehart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devyn, what role has risk played in your life or career?
A while ago someone told me that if you do not take risks you will not get to the next level, because you perform better when your back is against the wall. Risk brings reward but it is very scary at first. I had a full time 9-5 type of job and cut back to go part-time and take less money to put more time into becoming an agent. I later would quit my job entirely to sell real estate full-time even though I only had made 1 sale at the time. I also took a huge risk once I switched companies. It was one of the hardest decisions of my life but it paid off and my career went to the next step as I would go on to make 4 quick sales.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The cool thing about being a Real Estate Professional is that you can operate your business how you want to. There is not just one way to do Real Estate and that is where creativity comes in. I was able to create my own unique style of marketing as well as my approach with clients. I think my marketing is really what sets me apart from others in the industry. I do everything on my own including video tours, informational videos, my design/themes, pictures, and all my content as a whole. I am most proud of my first sale. The feeling of getting over the hump was incredible and allowed me to gain momentum and continue to have more success. I started out sitting in an office everyday making calls and making videos to now showing multi-million dollar properties and being on the verge of re-branding myself as a luxury realtor and soon to be celebrity realtor. This was never easy at any point. I was able to overcome many challenges by simply not giving up and also by changing my mindset. Understanding that Obstacles and challenges are a mind game and focusing on solutions and the positive aspects rather than the negatives. So many lessons learned but most importantly Reading, make progress daily doing something even if it’s small, never quit, and understand that nobody will believe in you until you have done it multiple times.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in San Diego, arguably the best city in America, it would only be right to go to the beach first. The coastal scenery is breath taking. A couple other fun places include San Diego Zoo, Coronado Island, Del Mar fair/racetrack, Cinepolis movie theater, and Balboa Park for the museums. Despite my vegan like diet, I would have no choice but to take them to the Taco Shop for a California Burrito, carne aside fries, or tacos. Preferably at The Barrel, Los Ponchos, Cotijas or El Cotixan but pretty much any taco shop is good. I would also have to recommend Chris Ono Grinds for the best Hawaiian BBQ and sweet potatoes in town. On a healthy note we would have to hit LIV Juice Bar in Hillcrest for the best green juices. For drinks I would go to Altitude roof top bar which overlooks Petco Park and downtown. Also El Perez in Pacific Beach. Not to mention Fire House in PB as well to get drinks from Selena the best bartender in SD. Coin-Op Arcade and Bar is also one of my favorite places to have fun and grab a drink with a different type of vibe. Fashion Valley Mall would be the desired shopping place and then I would make my way over to a new Urban-wear store called Heavy Pocketz. If we need to get a workout in I would head over to TA Fitness to work with one of the best trainers in San Diego Tommy Alexander.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Hedda Parashos, the owner of Palisade Realty, helped me the most when it comes to getting my business off the ground. She put me in position to gain so much experience by actually being in the field with clients of my own, and also training me with very simple easy ways to make sales. I also have to give credit to the books I read which changed my mindset. Tax Free Wealth, The Law of Success, Think and Grow Rich, The Brain Always Wins, The Book On Rental Property Investing, and The Millionaire Real Estate Agent, are all books that changed my life. I will also recognize myself because I didn’t quit. I pushed through even when others didn’t believe in me and times were dark. When nobody believes in you it does something to your mind. I give myself credit for putting in the ground work and not getting anything in return and not seeing any results. I give myself credit for changing my entire persona from a basketball player to a Real Estate expert which takes time and consistency. Now that I have built up my status as an agent I would also like to thank all my supporters on social media who watched my transformation up to this point.
