We had the good fortune of connecting with Michael Tanaka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
The quote I live by is from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” When I saw the movie for the first time, the quote stuck with me making me think, life’s fast, why not do something you love then regret it later for not taking the chance. So why not do my passion? That is why I’m a videographer/photographer, doing what I love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been crafting my skillset to bring top-notch style and creativity to my projects, with my style of videos and photos standing out compared to others. From being a Creative Director to Envisioning Projects, Filming, Editing & Directing hundreds of videos & working with talented individuals. My passion for Videography & Photography has taken me to places I would have never imagined. With my short film “24 Hours” being featured in the 20th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival. I am excited for what 2022 holds as each year after year holds new experiences that I’m excited to learn and grow from.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had some friends come over I would take them to some spots that are unique. Hit a roof in LA, go to Malibu’s El Matador beach for sunset, then Santa Monica for dinner and the pier to enjoy the lights.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person who really got me started in videography was my friend Diego Monico (LikeWise) who I get to work aside now. I have always been into making films and was making them in a movie format and didn’t even consider other possibilities with videography that I could be doing. Diego always made these amazing lifestyle edits which I loved, he told me to go ahead and get a GoPro to make start making IG edits which shaped me into what I do today.
