We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Coronado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Growing up, my dad used to shoot film photography all the time as a hobby. He took his camera everywhere so he always let me take a few photos so I could learn. I then got into photography in high school and made the decision to pursue it in college. I attended Palomar college for a few years but I ditched my general Ed classes so I could just take every single photo and graphic design class I could. I’ve taken jobs left and right to build my network, but it wasn’t until this year I realized I was tired of working for a company. I took a leap of faith, left my job and began to work for myself.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It would’ve been easy, but I chose to make it a difficult journey. I doubted myself for so many years and kept photography as a side hustle to earn income while I continued to work a 9-5. It wasn’t until I traveled to Europe 3 years ago, explored 10 countries in four months and created a few travel series that really helped me gain a lot of confidence in my craft. When I moved home I worked as a product photographer for a fashion company. This ultimately created my passion for not only Product Photography, but the business side of creating content for brands. What I want the world to know is that since then, I have created a business that doesn’t put a limit on what I can achieve anymore. I simply want to create.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man that’s a tough one because there’s so much to see here! I would start off by taking them to Taco Stand in North Park, grab a beer at Modern Times, and then we would cruise over to Seaport Village and walk along the shoreline after getting some ice cream at the Little Italy, Salt and Straw. Honestly though I’m a little biased because I live here but I love Kensington. So I would take them to Clem’s Tap House and Cucina Sorella too. Rabbithole would be the place we have a trivia night and I pretty much would take them to every local San Diego small business in North Park I could because I love them all so much.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my parents. Since I graduated high school, they have supported my dreams of being a photographer and never once questioned my life choices. They constantly encourage me to keep going and I am so incredibly blessed to have them in my life. I also want to give a shoutout to my best friends; Claire, Caitlyn, Hannah, Marissa, and Elli. They have supported my journey since the day I met them. They hype me up whenever I start doubting myself and I’m extremely grateful for each of them.
