We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Barrack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
If you don’t take any risks, you can’t expect any rewards – it can be that simple. This philosophy applies to both our personal and professional lives separately and together. What I had to first learn in all of this is how important developing a belief in yourself is, which can also be a challenge at times, but something you have to take the initial risk on.

Once you realize how much you are capable of achieving, the concept of “risk” in other areas of your life won’t seem so intimidating. Once you develop this necessary self-confidence, you can create an unlimited opportunity for your future. Leaving a full-time job at a great company to start my own media company (Full Wave Creative) was 100% a risk, but I realized one day how many opportunities were out there to chase. I had to take the risk of fully trusting in my skillset, my network, and myself.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide range of industries with clients such as advertising agencies, craft beverage companies, athletic and apparel companies, restaurants, non-profit organizations, touring musicians, record labels, music venues, and more. Of course, none of these partnerships came to me overnight. I had to work hard for them and constantly be networking with people I didn’t know, connecting with others online (some I thought were way out of my league), and make my presence known in rooms where I felt I could have a place and be known as someone people could rely on.
The more I run through this cycle, the more opportunities present themselves in my life and I learn how to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations by trusting myself. Taking risks is just a part of life, and it takes time to become confident taking certain risks. The thing is though, there are thousands of people that do exactly what you do, and some who do it better. But, if you make the effort to learn how to turn intimidating situations into calculated risks, you can start to see the benefits in pursuing certain situations that others might not be willing to take.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am extremely proud of what I do. I have always had a passion for pursuing a career in music as an artist and I am happy to say I am still making music and making moves towards that goal. (A new album is in the works as I’m typing this from the studio!)

Along the way, I also have been spending a fair amount of time creating content and learning to enjoy something that wasn’t part of the original plan. What I’ve found when I let some of that fear go, was soon enough there were plenty of cross-over moments between the type of content I’d create and my love for music. I’ve been fortunate enough to shoot videos and photos for some of my favorite artists and also have a pretty major film project in the works related to the music industry as well.
There is no greater feeling than looking back on content or music I’ve created and knowing that it’s something I can stand by forever. You really do have to be your biggest fan to chase your dreams and that’s something I am constantly working on. I feel like I’m here to leave a legacy with the work that I do and the art that I create. My goal is simply to connect with people and create a sense of community, and if I can do that through all of the outlets I’m passionate about, it’s a win-win situation.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Making your way through the creative industry is no easy job. You really do need to rely on quality people to bring you up when you’re down and help you navigate through a very fast-paced work environment. I am forever grateful to have people in my life that do that. First and foremost, my family has always been supportive of what I am after and I will always be appreciative of them. Next, I’d have to give a shoutout to my good friend and mentor Preston Roeschlein who’s always looked out for me, taught me how to be confident in what I bring to the table, and given me the opportunities to progress in the industry.

On the music side of what I do, a major shoutout is due to my long-time friend and producer Ryan Mowrey who has always believed in my vision and has also put in countless hours to make sure my music is always sounding top-notch!
Also, a shoutout is deserved to Shoutout Socal because it’s so awesome there are creative outlets like this for us creatives to share our voices, be heard, and look slightly more legit than we are.
