Meet Helen Jajo: Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Helen Jajo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Helen, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I wanted to pursue my career as a makeup artist because of my love for art and creativity. When I was younger, my favorite thing to do was to draw and paint. As I grew older I found my passion for makeup, which allows me to express myself with the use of makeup products. 

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe each makeup artist is talented in their own way. We each have our own different styles and techniques on how we apply makeup. I am proud of myself for the way that I have learned and have grown over the years as an artist. It took a lot of practice and hard work to get to where I am today. I’ve learned that each person has their own preference and style of how they like their makeup to look and I’m glad that I’m able to give my clients any type of look that they ask for.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego is such a beautiful city and there is so much you can do here. Some of my favorite places include La Jolla Cove, Mission Beach, Coronado island, and Mission trails regional park. I also love walking around and shopping at the Fashion Valley mall. To whoever comes to visit San Diego, I’m sure you’ll love it here!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sister Maryam has always encouraged me to follow my dreams and pursue my career as a makeup artist. She is always there to support me and compliment me on my work!
