Meet Laura Rose: San Diego Maternity Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business has been instilled in me. I have never been one to want to do what everyone else was doing. I have always wanted to be my own boss. My Photography Business that I have now ids my 3rd Business adventure. It came actually after a back injury.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I specialize in Maternity and Newborn Portraits. My Maternity Portraits are either outside or Indoor Studio. I will say My indoor studio sets are where my heart keeps coming to. They are so elegant and beautiful. They truly show the bond between baby and mom before babe is even here. My indoor sets are pretty one of a kind here in San Diego. There are only a handful of Maternity Indoor Photographers here in SD. I have gotten where I am by Practicing what I have learned from as many resources as I could take in Also from just experimenting on my own. I will be the first to say none of it is easy, and there are days I still say I want to quit. The number one lesson I have learned is don’t look to what your competition is doing. Just stick to what you’re doing. If what your doing isn’t working try something new. My brand is one of a kind because I am one of a kind. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start out by taking them to the top of Mount Soledad as that view is the best view of San Diego. Then I would take them to Balboa Park Because Come on that’s San Diego right there. Then we would go to Cornado ferry landing and look across and gaze at our city skyline. Then we would go to the amazing San Diego Zoo I would end the trip at Sunset Cliff with first a stop at Hodads Burgers to eat at the cliffs. Because there Burger Basket is the Best!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my husband in always encouraging me to continue in this business. Without his support I would of quick already. As business is not an easy thing. I would like to also thank all the online educators that have taught online. With out the YouTube educators and also the private mentors in the Special fields of Newborn and Maternity photography I wouldn’t be where I am now.
