We had the good fortune of connecting with Tao-By Aleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tao-by, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Making my hobbies and passions a part of my son’s life growing up. Teaching them how to do all the things I can so they are ahead of the rest and can rely on themselves to solve problems.

I am a professional race car driver in 1/4 mile outlaw drag racing. I am currently going for the world recors 6.21@245mph in the 1/4 mile. Specializing in building race cars and driving race cars. I have been in business in Escondido, California for 25 plus years.
It has not been easy to get into the pro drag racing as there are lots of obstacles. It has been constant struggle between buying the parts and building every aspect of the car myself in house. I finally met Randall from Sonnax Transmissions after to speaking to the home office they refered me to Randall and he has made it possible for me to learn how to build the th400 transmission utilizing all he extreme duty parts and the smart tech module that Randall engineered. He has made it possible for me to obtain other sponsors to help me through the build. Then after they heard Sonnax was in my corner I was lucky to meet Bill from Bullseye Turbochargers and he decide to take care of me aswell. Next was Bruno from Vibrant Performance, after speaking to them about intercooler cores that we utilized to devolope the first air to water intercooler for the Honda K24 I was luicky enough to be able to add them to the Team. Bob from Golden Eagle MFG has been a crutial component in this process as he does engine sleeving and building for all the leaders in the pro classes.
There has been a huge learn curve on this build as it is a full tube chassis built to the 25.1 NHRA spec rule book and was a lot of work. Doing everything in house myself I have really perfected this art of building top notch race cars capable of hitting the world record for An AE86 Toyota all steel body configuration. Then Randall teaching me how to build the Th400 transmission was something I always wanted to learn to build and with his expertise is was easy to learn.
I am a self made builder that learned from the ground up with no compromise. I run all USA and Australian made parts on my car only. There are only 3 parts not made in the USA or Australia and they are the engine block, crank, and body thats it! Hard work pays off and this has been A LOT OF HARD WORK.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start at the Barona Drag strip for Friday to Saturday. Then down to Farmer Boys for a Bacon Burger. Cruise out to Carlsbad and show them where the old Dragstrip used to be. Probably take a drive to Alex Tacos for the Pastore Tacos on the way back to Escondido.
