We had the good fortune of connecting with Vazmine Valencia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vazmine, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ve built my career by saying yes to opportunities that others might have thought were out of reach. I never waited for permission or the perfect résumé. Whether it was booking talent, launching campaigns, or starting my own agency, I’ve always believed that preparation matters, but so does having the courage to take the leap.
My approach to risk is simple: be bold, but be prepared. I do my homework, understand the downside, and then commit fully. Some of the biggest milestones in my career happened because I was willing to take a chance before I had certainty. That’s a mindset I still carry today. In marketing especially, innovation comes from testing new ideas, and the people who are willing to experiment are often the ones who stay ahead.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
JV Agency was built on the belief that great marketing should create lasting careers, not just viral moments. We specialize in helping artists, music brands, and entertainment companies build meaningful audiences through strategic digital marketing, advertising, partnerships, and storytelling.
What sets us apart is that we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all campaigns. Every artist and brand has a different story, audience, and definition of success. We combine data with creativity to build customized strategies that are designed for long-term growth rather than chasing short-lived trends. Whether we’re launching an independent artist or leading campaigns for global brands, our approach is the same: understand the audience first and create marketing that genuinely connects.
My path to building the agency certainly wasn’t easy. I didn’t come from a traditional agency background. Instead, I built my career by saying yes to opportunities, learning every part of the business firsthand, and earning trust one project at a time. From booking artists and producing events to developing digital campaigns, every experience became another building block. There wasn’t a shortcut. It took years of consistency, adaptability, and a willingness to keep learning as the industry evolved.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that relationships matter just as much as results. The music industry is built on trust, and the strongest partnerships come from showing up consistently, communicating well, and delivering on your promises. I’ve also learned that success isn’t about chasing every opportunity. It’s about staying focused on the work that aligns with your values and creates real impact for your clients.
Today, I’m most proud that JV Agency has earned the trust of both emerging artists and established global brands. It’s rewarding to know that the same agency can help launch an independent musician while also supporting international marketing initiatives for companies with decades of history.
More than anything, I want people to know that our brand is built on integrity, curiosity, and a genuine passion for helping others succeed. Marketing is constantly changing, but the fundamentals never do: understand people, tell authentic stories, and always deliver more value than expected.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d definitely mix great food, live music, and the creative energy that makes Los Angeles so unique.
I’d have to start with a little humble brag by taking them to Toastique on Sunset Boulevard for a healthy breakfast. It’s one of the restaurants my husband and I own through our hospitality company, so it’s a place I’m especially proud of. It’s the perfect way to fuel up before exploring Hollywood, West Hollywood.
One afternoon, we’d head to the Venice Beach Boardwalk so they could see my dog, @SirDaxton and watch him skateboard. It’s always a crowd favorite and never fails to make people smile. Venice has such a fun, creative energy, and it’s one of those quintessential LA experiences.
One evening, we’d have dinner at Verse LA, owned by my friend and GRAMMY-winning mix engineer Manny Marroquin. The food is incredible, but what makes it special is how it brings together music, hospitality, and the creative community. It’s one of those places where you never know who you’ll run into, and it captures the spirit of Los Angeles.
Since music is such a big part of my life, we’d spend at least one night seeing a concert at the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek Theatre. There’s nothing like experiencing live music in one of those iconic venues.
We’d also spend a day exploring neighborhoods like Silver Lake and Los Feliz, checking out local bookstores, coffee shops, and finding new restaurants that are generating buzz. I love that Los Angeles is always evolving, and there’s always something new to discover.
The week would end with a rooftop dinner overlooking the city. For me, the best trips aren’t about checking off tourist attractions. They’re about discovering great food, experiencing live music, supporting local businesses, and creating memorable experiences with the people you’re with.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to recognize the artists and clients who took a chance on me early in my career. Before JV Agency became what it is today, there were people who trusted me with their music, brands, and careers. That trust gave me the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a business around helping others succeed.
I’d also like to recognize the music industry community. Throughout my career, I’ve had mentors, collaborators, and peers who were generous with their advice, introductions, and encouragement. Those moments made a real difference, and they’ve shaped how I approach my own career.
Because of that, I make it a priority to give back. I’m a Recording Academy (GRAMMY) mentor, where I mentor emerging artists, and I also mentor college students who are pursuing careers in the music industry. I believe success is even more meaningful when you can help create opportunities for others, just as others did for me.
