Meet Jamie Gavino

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Gavino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
The wedding industry is very competitive, especially now that many venues have in-house wedding coordinators. It can be discouraging at times, but what keeps my business partner and me motivated is our friendship and our shared passion for helping couples enjoy one of the most important days of their lives. We primarily grow through word-of-mouth referrals, which tells us that the relationships we build and the service we provide leave a lasting impression. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see our clients happy and know we’ve helped make their wedding day run smoothly.

What should our readers know about your business?
We’re lifelong best friends who grew up together and eventually both moved to San Diego. What started as a shared love for weddings became a side business we’re truly passionate about. More than anything, we’re proud to celebrate love amongst family and friends.
Everything is through word of mouth and social media! We keep it simple and focus on few weddings a year. We’ve learned to always have backup plans and ensure the bride and groom always a filled glass.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The vibes will be high! We are starting the morning off over at Madi for early breakfast , before driving up to for smoothies over in PB at Palmys. We are gonna walk over to the beach and watch the surfers. Once we get hungry, we are heading over to Nico’s Taco Shop for the best guava sauce on tacos. We can head back to relax at Civita Park and then getting ready for a fun night out! Dinner at herb and wood followed by a fun chill night at Kiku room.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m incredibly grateful to have my childhood best friend, Kianna Olsen, as my business partner. As we’ve gotten older, life has taken us in different directions, so every wedding we take on is another opportunity to spend time together while helping create a couple’s dream wedding. It’s something we’re both passionate about, and it gives us a chance to make a meaningful impact during one of the biggest moments in someone’s life.
We balance each other well because we each bring different strengths to the business. I learned the foundation of wedding coordination by assisting Tangerine Events Co. in Orange County, while Kianna brought the perspective of planning and experiencing her own wedding. Together, those experiences gave us the confidence to start our own partnership.
We intentionally keep it as a side business, taking on just a few weddings each year so we can give each couple the time and attention they deserve. Even with a limited schedule, we’ve been fortunate to grow through word-of-mouth referrals, which has been the most rewarding reflection of the relationships we’ve built with our clients
