Meet Jacob Paniagua | Tattoo Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Paniagua and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacob, what’s your definition for success?
Success to me is being able to have a healthy balance between work and my personal life. I have gotten to a point where I’m able to enjoy work, my family, and my personal hobbies.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a tattoo artist. I work at Wish Tattoo in North Park. I primarily specialize in traditional tattoos in both color and black and grey. My favorite designs to tattoo are skulls, roses, or anything western.
I started tattooing professionally in 2021 after finishing my apprenticeship.
My apprenticeship was during Covid and I was working a full time job. I was working the graveyard shift in order to be at the tattoo shop during the day. I did this a year and then the day came where I was able to tattoo full time. I’ve learned that you can achieve anything that you put time and effort into.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a big foodie so I enjoy quality food spots. My favorite quick eats in North Park are Gelati and Peccati, The Friendly, Wise Ox, and Lou’s Deli. For drinks, I like going to Happy Medium, Lancers, and the Lafayette if you can beat the line!
Sunset cliffs is always a go to spot for sunsets. Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel is about an hour east of San Diego. It’s a great place to relax in the mineral pools and have some tasty food and drinks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s a lot of people who have helped me get to where I am today, my wife has been my biggest supporter.
