We had the good fortune of connecting with Eitan Bendesky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eitan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I saw an opportunity in an industry that honestly has a reputation problem. Construction is one of the few spaces where homeowners are always at a disadvantage. They don’t know the rules, they don’t know the materials, and too many contractors take advantage of that. When I saw that clearly, it bothered me and it motivated me to do something about it.

I knew I had the experience to do it differently. So I started Statera with a very simple idea: we are building a name that stands for something. And you can only do that through honesty. When things go wrong, you own it and you fix it. Every single time.

That is what drives me. Building something that actually helps people. The homeowners who trust us with one of the biggest investments of their lives, and the people on our team who show up every day and depend on us.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Statera is a residential design-build company based in San Diego. We handle everything from remodels and renovations to ADUs and multifamily projects. What sets us apart is simple: we do business differently.

What I am most proud of is what we have been able to accomplish in just a year and a half. The growth has been real, but more importantly the foundation we are building is real. Systems, processes, a team that shows up every day and cares about the work.

Getting here was not easy. A lot of what I know came from hard moments, jobs that did not go as planned, and experiences that humbled me and forced me to grow. That is what shapes you as an entrepreneur. You do not build something meaningful without going through that.

What I want people to know about Statera is that we are building a name that stands for something. We are not perfect and we are still growing and evolving every single day. But our mentality has never changed. We want our team to feel proud to be part of this company, and we want our clients to feel proud of what we built together in their home. That is what drives us. That is why we keep pushing to change how this industry operates.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego is one of those cities where you never run out of things to do. If my best friend was visiting for a week the first thing I would do is take them to a San Diego FC game at Snapdragon Stadium. The atmosphere there is something else and it is one of the most exciting things happening in this city right now. Then we would have to catch a Padres game at Petco Park. There is nothing like being downtown on a game night.

Beyond that I would take them to Coronado Island, walk the beach, see the Hotel Del. A morning at La Jolla Cove. A full afternoon at Balboa Park. And I would end the trip at Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach watching the sun go down. San Diego has a way of making people never want to leave and honestly I feel that every single day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This one is easy. My wife Liat. She has been my partner in every sense of the word, in life and in business. She now leads operations at Statera and her impact on how we run day to day has been huge. Building a company is not easy and having someone at home and at work who genuinely understands what you are going through makes all the difference.

My team deserves a lot of credit too. The people who show up every day, do the work, and believe in what we are building. None of this happens without them.

And my business partners, who took a chance on me and believed in the vision from day one. That kind of trust is not something you take for granted.
