Meet Pete Johnson | Entrepreneur & Football Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pete Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pete, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
One of the biggest habits that has shaped my success has been my background in team sports—especially football. Playing football taught me the importance of working toward a commonly shared goal, relying on others, and being someone that others can rely on. It instilled discipline, perseverance, and the understanding that progress comes from consistent effort, even when things get tough. Those lessons carried over into my professional life, where teamwork, resilience, and a strong work ethic have been essential in building momentum and achieving results.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business partner and I started Lasso MD out of frustration with what we were seeing in the dental industry. Too many practices were getting taken advantage of by marketing companies that promised the world but never delivered. We knew there had to be a better way. That’s why we set out to create a system where marketing data and practice management software data could be integrated together. This gave our clients a transparent, level playing field to work from, so instead of empty promises, we could collaborate with them on the smartest, most effective ways to deploy their marketing capital.
Of course, the journey wasn’t easy. Building something different always comes with its challenges. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to always believe in yourself. I know it may sound cliché, but it’s the truth. When you set a goal and truly believe you can achieve it, you’ll push yourself to do the hard work and make the sacrifices required to get there. Mindset is everything—it’s what keeps you going when the obstacles feel overwhelming and what ultimately makes success possible.
What I want the world to know about our brand is that Lasso MD is about partnership, not salesmanship. We’re here to give dental practices clarity, honesty, and a true ally in growth. That’s what excites me most and keeps me motivated every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think San Diego has one of the best food scenes anywhere—and of course, nothing beats our beaches.
If my best friend was visiting, the first stop would be Roberto’s Taco Shop for a California burrito, followed by a day at the beach in Del Mar to relax and soak it all in. After the beach, we’d head up to Monarch at the Del Mar Plaza to catch the sunset and check out the scene.
From there, I’d want to give them a taste of San Diego’s diverse food and nightlife. In Carlsbad, we’d hit Jeune et Jolie and Campfire. North Park would be a must for Fortunate Son and its lively nightlife. And no trip is complete without catching a Padres game downtown.
For something uniquely San Diego, I’d take them to the Wild Animal Park—it’s a one-of-a-kind experience that I’d pick over the Zoo if they’ve never been here before. And if the mood strikes, we’d cap it all off with a day (and night) of fun at Flamingo Deck in Mission Beach.
A week in San Diego goes fast, but with good food, beaches, and plenty of energy, it’s always unforgettable.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my wife. She’s not only an entrepreneur running her own business, but she’s also the rock at home who makes it possible for me to chase my own dreams. Her support, encouragement, and ability to balance so much with grace have been a huge part of my journey, and I wouldn’t be where I am without her.
