We had the good fortune of connecting with Hema Crockett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hema, what principle do you value most?
Courage has always been one of my top values and, even more than that, a way of living and being in this world.

Courage isn’t just a word I throw around – it’s the lens through which I view every major decision in my life. When I’m standing at a crossroads, whether it’s something as simple as having a difficult conversation or as life-altering as completely changing my career trajectory, I ask myself: “Where would courage lead me?”

That question led me to walk away from Corporate America nearly eight years ago to launch my first company. Most people thought I was crazy to leave the security of a steady paycheck, but courage whispered that there was something bigger waiting for me on the other side of fear. That same inner voice guided me through the successful exit of my most recent venture at the end of 2024, and now it’s the driving force behind Recalibrate Coaching, where I get to help others find their own courageous path forward.

But courage hasn’t just shaped my professional life – it’s been my compass for the most personal decisions too. It’s what gave me the strength to pack up my life and move to Kathmandu, Nepal, immersing myself in a completely different culture and way of being. And it’s what empowered me to make the deeply personal choice not to have children, despite the countless questions and judgments that come with going against societal expectations.

Every day, I’m reminded that the life I’ve built – one filled with purpose, authenticity, and even uncertainty – exists because I chose courage over comfort. It’s not always the easy path, but it’s always been the right one for me. Courage has allowed me to live without regrets because I am willing to take the risks.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Recalibrate Coaching exists for the successful professional who has achieved everything they thought they wanted, yet still feels something is missing. You know the type – impressive LinkedIn profiles, corner offices, external validation – but internally, there’s this nagging disconnect between their accomplishments and their authentic selves.

What sets me apart is that I don’t ask my clients to add more to their already overwhelming lives. Instead, I create space for them to subtract – to strip away the conditioning, inherited beliefs, and external expectations that have been driving their decisions. My signature methodology, “Recalibrate: A Profound Practice,” guides clients from external conditioning to internal truth through silence, not more noise.

I also bring a unique combination of credibility that speaks to this audience. With over two decades of executive leadership experience, including founding and successfully exiting a talent strategy company, I understand the high-stakes world my clients operate in. But I pair that corporate expertise with deep spiritual awareness and eastern philosophical practices. I can speak boardroom language while guiding someone to their soul’s truth.

For me, this work is personal. It’s about reconnecting you with your authentic self. It’s about aligning external achievement with internal fulfillment. It’s about coming home to yourself.

I’m most excited about the profound shifts I witness in my clients when they finally hear their own voice beneath all the external chatter. There’s this moment – I call it the recalibration point – where they realize they don’t need to become someone new; they need to unbecome everything that isn’t truly them. Watching high-achieving individuals reconnect with who they’ve always been, beneath all the conditioning, is why I do this work.

Getting here required me to walk this path myself first. Growing up in an East Indian family, I intimately understood the weight of cultural expectations around appearance, marriage, and career choices. I spent years checking all the right boxes and building what looked like success from the outside, but something was missing.

The turning point came when I had the courage to question inherited beliefs – not just what I’d been told, but who I’d been told to be. Breaking free from conditioning isn’t comfortable, but it’s necessary. I had to practice what I now teach: distinguishing between universal truths and conditioned beliefs.

Living internationally – from corporate boardrooms to the streets of Kathmandu – expanded my perspective on authentic success across different cultures. What I discovered is that beneath all the cultural differences, the human need for authentic connection and purpose remains constant.

The biggest lesson is that we were born with everything we need. Our journey isn’t about adding more – more habits, more disciplines, more to-dos. It’s about integration of what we already know to be true.

I’ve learned that most transformation programs address symptoms, but sustainable change happens when you address root causes. When you work at that level, everything else shifts naturally.

Another crucial insight: that disconnect between achievement and fulfillment isn’t a problem to be solved – it’s a gift. It’s your authentic self signaling that something is out of alignment. Learning to listen to that signal is where real transformation begins.

Success that aligns with your soul isn’t something you achieve – it’s something you remember. My work is simply helping people remember who they’ve always been.

In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, achieve more, and become more, I offer a different message: what if true success comes not from becoming, but from unbecoming? What if the answer isn’t out there, but in here?

I want people to know that finding your authentic self requires learning to listen inward instead of constantly seeking external validation. We don’t need more information; we need more integration. We don’t need more noise; we need more silence.

This work isn’t theoretical for me – it’s how I live my life. Every day is an opportunity to notice when I’m being pulled by external conditioning versus guided by internal truth. That authenticity is what allows me to create powerful spaces where silence leads to truth, and truth leads to transformation.

For the successful professional at a crossroads, especially women, I offer more than just another self-improvement program. I offer a profound recalibration – a return to the authentic self that’s been waiting beneath the layers of conditioning and external expectations all along.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This would truly depend on time of year, so let’s go with Fall when the weather is starting to get a little chilly. We would start out with a beach walk in Carlsbad watching the surfers and dogs enjoying the morning before heading to Shorehouse for breakfast. Delicious coffee is a must and they have it! If it was Sunday we would head over to the Leucadia Farmer’s Market and stock up on fresh bread and cheese for an afternoon picnic in the park. Not to be missed would be Little Fox Cups + Cones in Oceanside because their ice cream is amazing as well as Corner Pizza right next door.

Clearly, food would be a big part of this week! Beyond that, we would be checking out the Candlelight Concerts, Museum of Illusions, as well as stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking in La Jolla.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Success is a collective effort and anything that I have achieved is no exception. Community is so important. For me this includes my family, my husband, Mike, and my adorable and crazy rescue dog, Max. It also includes the amazing people I am honored to call friends. Community isn’t about quantity, it’s about quality. The incredible humans in my community are authentic, brilliant, and funny. I learn something from each of these incredible people and am so grateful to have them in my corner!
