Meet Kate Osborn | Massage Therapist, Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Osborn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kate, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I honestly just wanted to get out of my mother’s basement. I refused to ‘become a statistic’ of another person who got run out of Los Angeles due to not staying on top of their finances or, in all honesty, giving it ‘their all.’ I figured, ‘I am still licensed as a Massage Therapist, what if I work, for myself, grow my clientele, save my money, and get back out there and create my own little island of a business??’ So… I did!!

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is based upon me showing up, being fully present, managing my time, and delivering the same amount of positive energy at the beginning of my day to the very end of my day. Everyone who books with me gets the exact same positive energy that I have to offer for their experience. What sets me apart from other massage therapists is my intuition. I have fabulous intuition and am able to find ‘the problem’ area within 3 seconds (most of the time). I get right down to business, don’t waste a single minute of someone’s time, and flow with what their body is telling me to do.
I almost feel like a ‘painter.’ The long massage strokes feel like they could be long ‘paint brush’ strokes in some way. No matter what kind of day I am having, I am always a better person after giving someone a massage as well as choose to leave someone better than when I ‘found them.’
My intuition picks up the emotion in people’s voices, what trauma’s they’re holding in their muscles, and their all over body language when they first walk through the door.
I am taking all of that into account even before they take their clothes off in order to get underneath both the sheet and blanket while I have stepped away to wash my arms and hands and get grounded in order to plug into what their body needs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a mobile massage therapist, this would be such a fun question to answer due to driving all over Los Angeles and constantly discovering new pockets of magic!!
Pending on their personality, age, and desires… here is what I would present to them….
Santa Monica Pier is always a good attraction. — feel the breeze, sightsee, etc
3rd Street Promenade on Sunday nights have Salsa Dancing on the street, that’s a definite, even simply to walk by.
Restaurants like La Boheme, Hugo’s (both locations), MainRo in Hollywood, In and Out burger at any location of course, The Griddle Cafe, Vivians Restaurant, Sushi Dan in Studio City is a great local spot, Peninsula in Beverly Hills is great if a group of ladies wants to do tea and crumpets and listen to a harp player or pianist during their tea time!
Getty Museum is delightful and outdoorsy
Farmer’s Market in Beverly Hills, Studio City, The Grove are great ones
Sequoia Trees if you are willing to make the drive.
Venice Beach or Santa Monica Beach
Salsa dancing (pending on who my guests are) at Members on Wednesday night
Rooftop Cinema Club in downtown LA for a movie night
Possibly an LA Lakers game or a fun comedy show
We could even get crazy and rent an exotic car and drive around the neighborhoods. 🙂

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I completely give credit to the relationship I have with my clients who have not only scheduled with me, but referred me to their friends, booked me on set to give chair massage, left me Yelp reviews, and shared my social media posts. Without all of you, I wouldn’t have come this far.
