Today we’re excited to be connecting with Pili Aguado again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Pili, thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
I studied Fine Arts at university, specialising in graphic techniques and years later I started working as a professional illustrator. I live in a village in the Basque Country, surrounded by mountains. I try to make my work coherent with my values and ideas and I would like it to be understood as such. I love travelling and getting to know new places and different cultures. My study partner is a cat who loves to sleep on my drawings.

Great, so let’s jump into an update on what you have been up to since we last spoke. What can you share with us?
I continue to work as a freelance illustrator. I do editorial work, personal commissions and work with agencies. The last few years I work as an art teacher with children some days of the week. I also teach creative workshops for adults, where we learn different techniques such as watercolour, collage, graphic techniques. In my personal projects I am working with ceramics, silkscreen printing, blockprintin, etc. The last year I have been a mother and it is difficult to combine freelance work with motherhood, but it has been a wonderful journey.

We have now arrived at one of our favorite parts of the interview – the lightning round. We’ll ask you a few quick questions to give us all some fun insights about you.

What are you most excited about in the coming year?
This year has been explosive with motherhood and the arrival of my baby. I am looking forward to enjoying time with my family, watching him discover the everyday things in life, travelling a lot this summer and reconnecting with my work again. Sometimes it’s hard when you stop working for a few months as a freelancer to go back to looking for work and keep getting called back for projects. I hope to start having more time to draw and to continue with my artistic projects. Hopefully it will be a great year 🙂
