We had the good fortune of connecting with Aucelia Duarte Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aucelia, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Dogie Gone Grooming, we believe that our role extends beyond grooming dogs—we are an active part of the community. Our approach to grooming is unique in that we prioritize each dog’s well-being, working at their pace without the use of kennels or muzzles. This individualized care not only helps create a calm, stress-free experience for your dog but also builds trust within the community of pet owners.

We are also committed to giving back to the community that supports us. Dogie Gone Grooming regularly contributes to local raffles, sporting clubs, and charitable events, helping to support and enrich the lives of those around us.

Our goal is to create a welcoming space for both dogs and their owners, while also being a positive influence on the wider community. Whether through our compassionate grooming services or our community involvement, we are dedicated to making a difference every day.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Life shirft in many ways, I was attending vet school, and life brought me to the USA.
I raised my son , survived domestic violence , divorce and try to build a future for my son , my first job was bathing dogs in a salon near by, Eventually I got offer to help in another salon, and got to learn so much in how to be treated and with that how to treat others and dogs.
It wasn’t easy to get where I am as a single mom, but we did it .
Together with my team I want to make a positive impact in all dogs and their owners .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My first stop is to get a coffee at Mike Hess or Katie’s, walk down the to the beach and check the surf. Meet up and catch up with friends .
I love little lion in sunset cliffs for a Belgium waffles and tumeric late
Spend the afternoon surfing at Cardiff or imperial beach

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe much of our success and growth to the incredible people who have been by our side every step of the way.

First and foremost, I want to recognize my son, the driving force behind everything I do. He is the reason I push forward, showing that with determination, even starting from zero, we can continue to grow and thrive. His belief in me fuels my passion for creating something meaningful.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Kaoru Nakayima, a dear friend whose support has been invaluable. Kaoru has always been a pillar of encouragement and guidance, offering positive feedback and wisdom that has been integral to my personal and professional growth. I will forever be grateful for the encouragement and lessons shared along the way.

I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and beloved clients. Your unwavering support, loyalty, and trust have been instrumental in building this business.
