Meet Kevin Wang | Solution Creator. Game industry professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in the vibrant city of Taipei, Taiwan, and at the age of 14, I embarked on an incredible journey to Costa Rica to study for 3 years and eventually making my new home in the United States.
After living in each country for quiet sometimes, I realized the cultural differences were vast between 3 places, everything from work ethics to media, culture and communication styles was unlike anything I had known. later in my career I was working with two major Chinese companies expanding overseas, I saw the challenges of navigating time zones, language barriers, and difference in culture and communication style. But with my deep roots in Taiwan and a profound understanding of Asian/US culture difference, I became a bridge between these worlds.
This chapter of my life taught me a valuable lesson: everything happens for a reason. Even if the benefits aren’t immediately clear, embracing each step of your journey will one day reveal the wisdom and strength you need to thrive.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The journey started 30 years ago with a passion for telling stories through still imagery. my journey of life started earlier than that, being born and raised in Taiwan and enjoying the world through a little boy’s eyes. Whether by choice or by luck, when I was older I moved to the western world, soaking in the culture and visuals of Costa Rica, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, and most recently San Diego.
After reaching Southern California, I found his career in feature film and video games to coincide at times with my photographic passions; while on Beowulf (2007), I was privileged to work directly with Robert Zemeckis and the Director of Photography, absorbing decades worth of experience about photography and motion. After contributing to films like Avatar (2009) and Monster House (2006), I now resides in San Diego, working on the cinematic visuals that tell the stories of high profile video games and capturing the stories of real people through photography.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
La Jolla – The Cove, where most of the tourist love to visit, whether you want to have a relaxed walk or bathing under the sun and watch the seals or want to get a drink and a snack, you can all achieve it here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to Benjamin Yeh, not only he has been a great personal friend for the past 15 years, but he has also been a great motivational coach in life, shifting and gearing me towards a more positive path, opening my view to a broader aspect.
