We had the good fortune of connecting with Cash Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cash, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
I guess the most important lesson I’ve learned is how to be resilient. There are many challenges that come from working as an artist and owning a business in an industry that does not provide a necessity and has a lot of competition. Being able to adapt on the fly and remain composed has been a very important part of why I believe I’ve been able to stay busy and get to this point of success in my career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The biggest factor to my success has been grit and determination. I’ve worked really hard and for a very long time to get to where I’m at, and I believe all the hard work and hours I’ve put in show in my work. It wasn’t always easy, and there were many late nights an early mornings. Learning from both my failures and my successes, and not being defined by either one, has helped me become successful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a full day, I’d start by bringing them by Surf Lodge for breakfast. Then we’d go golf at Loma Club and grab some seafood at Bluewater. We’d wrap up the day by going surfing at sunset by the cliffs and dinner at La Doña. And of course a visit to San Diego wouldn’t be complete without bringing them by Chapter One Tattoo to get a new tattoo.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d of course like to thank my wife and best friend, Michelle. When we first opened the shop it was just her and I and we spent every day and night working towards our goal together. From painting and decorating the walls, to assisting with the administrative side of things, opening the shop was a team effort. We wanted to open the best tattoo shop in San Diego and bring in artists that specialize in every style of tattooing, from Japanese and American Traditional, to black and grey realism.
