We had the good fortune of connecting with Darryl Kemper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Darryl, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I saw an opportunity to challenge myself in a new way. I could honestly sit and create amazing things for myself, but when you want to share your gift with the world and monetize it somehow — I think you have to pull yourself out of your comfort zone and consistently try and challenge yourself. So in short it’s to always try and push me to be a better maker!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always been fascinated by the artistic and storytelling power of props and costumes. In 2014, I took matters into my own hands by using papercraft to replicate my favorite pieces. Not long after, I started using EVA foam due to its ease of use and availability of information around the product. It wasn’t until several years later that I was introduced to 3D printing, but once I implemented this fantastic technology my workflow changed drastically.

Taking beautiful and interesting pieces from the incredible works of 3D Artists and Prop designers alike and bringing them to life as tangible objects. I do my best to honor their work while giving my creations a little flavor of my own, even going as far as forming unique ideas inspired by their imaginative worlds.

How I got to where I am today is still a little bit of a mystery to me.. I just create art and shared it. The road I’ve travelled has been filled with amazing Artists, Influencers and Entrepreneurs whom all have helped me grow and expand my audience by sharing the things I’ve made.

Along the way, the most important lesson I’ve learned is to consistently push yourself to do or make better things! Failure is the greatest teacher if you allow it and NEVER let strangers on the internet get you down! This is your journey and story and how its told is completely up to you! Lastly, Always give credit where its due. No matter how insignificant it might seem. That shoutout could mean the world to an artist.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live just north of Cincinnati, OH.

If I were to take someone anywhere to eat first it would be Skyline Chili. Its a staple in the Cincinnati food scene and really has a unique and different taste to any other traditional chili’s. Hang Spot; lets go down to the Banks and see the Reds and Bengals stadiums. The riverwalk parks near the Ohio River, then cross the bridge into Newport Kentucky for some more entertainment at the Newport Levee. In the evening you can see the Cincinnati Skyline light up which is an amazing view I never get tired of seeing!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Biggest shoutout to my friend and business partner Larry Hastings of Vulture Productions! Without him, his dedication to the craft a lot of this wouldn’t be possible!
