We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Murdock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I’ve found that certain habits are essential for both personal and professional success as a Mindful Living Coach and the Founder of Hella Wellthy.

1. Self-Care: Morning Routine: Prioritizing my own well-being allows me to show up fully for my clients and deliver the best possible service. A cornerstone of my self-care regimen is my morning routine—it’s my sacred time to prepare for the day ahead and ensure I show up as my best self. From spending time with my thoughts and spirituality, to indulging in a skincare ritual, reciting affirmations, savoring mindful tea, and enjoying a brisk morning walk with my chihuahua, every element helps set the tone for a fulfilling day. One particularly impactful habit is dedicating a moment in the morning to identify three personal and three professional goals. This simple practice keeps me focused, motivated, and ensures I’m making progress both personally and in my business.

2. Connection: Building Meaningful Relationships: Connection is at the heart of what I do, and I’m intentional about nurturing relationships with everyone I meet. Whether it’s a new acquaintance or a longtime friend, I make it a point to exchange contact information and follow up within 24-48 hours with a genuine message. I believe in the power of human connection, and I strive to go beyond surface-level interactions. By taking the time to truly understand each person’s story, needs, and aspirations, I not only build a strong network but also gain valuable insights that inform my approach in my wellness business.

3. Continuous Learning and Growth: Reading and Reflection: The field of wellness is constantly evolving, so I make it a habit to stay updated with the latest research, techniques, and practices. Whether it’s attending workshops, getting certifications, reading books, or taking courses, I’m committed to expanding my knowledge and skills. So far I have a personal training certification, health coaching certification and a soundbath healing certification. I’m also diving into books like “Lighter” by Yung Pueblo and “Vibrate Higher Daily” by Lalah Delia to deepen my understanding of mental and emotional health.

By consistently practicing these habits, I not only enhance my own well-being but also create a strong foundation for success in my business and my mission to promote holistic wellness, mindfulness and intentional living in individuals and communities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What Sets You A Part:

Hella Wellthy stands out from the crowd because the company was created based on personal experience and transformation. I went on a transformation of mind, body and soul where I lost over 30 pounds, fell in love with myself, changed my relationship with food and fitness and developed healthy habits for lasting change. I discovered that true wellness begins from within — it’s not just about physical health, but also about nurturing mental and emotional well-being.

I’m also not just here to coach my clients; I’m here to guide them on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery, self-love, and growth. I’ve grappled with not feeling comfortable in our own skin, tried every diet under the sun, and battled negative self-talk. Drawing from my own experiences, I infuse mindfulness, manifestation, music and movement into every aspect of my wellness experiences, ensuring a holistic approach to healing and overall well-being . I empower individuals to change their mindset while embracing their inner strength, confidence, and ability to redefine their wellness journey

At Hella Wellthy, we offer a variety of wellness experiences tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Whether you prefer personalized coaching, group sessions, wellness activities with friends, or incorporating wellness into your workplace culture, we’re committed to infusing wellness into every aspect of your life.

Our coaching approach focuses on improving the relationship you have with yourself, food, and/or fitness, empowering you to lead a more fulfilling life. In addition to coaching, we host community wellness events such as R&R, a blissful hour of mindfulness practices including mindful stretching, meditation, and soundbath healing in the heart of North park.

We also collaborate with companies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to offer tailored wellness programs and experiences. From corporate wellness events featuring mindful stretching and soundbath healing to educational workshops on topics such as nutrition and sleep hygiene.

Through our holistic approach to wellness and our commitment to empowering individuals and communities, Hella Wellthy strives to create a world where everyone can feel and be Hella Wellthy inside and out.

Lesson Learned:

When I started Hella Wellthy I had this vision of perfection in my mind — the perfect website, the perfect marketing plan, the perfect service. But as I soon discovered, perfection is just an illusion. I realized that sometimes you just have to throw things out there and see what sticks. Embracing the discomfort of imperfection became my new motto, and I found joy in launching different things, testing the waters, and learning from both successes and failures. It was liberating to realize that it’s okay if something doesn’t work out. In fact, it’s more than okay — it’s an opportunity for growth.

But amidst the whirlwind of entrepreneurship, I learned another valuable lesson: your well-being is non-negotiable. It’s easy to get swept up in the hustle and bustle of building a business, but I soon realized that neglecting my own well-being was a recipe for burnout. Yes, even someone who calls herself a Mindful Living Coach can sometimes forget to practice what she preaches! I’ll admit, there were times when I struggled to prioritize self-care amidst the chaos. But I’ve since learned to be more intentional about carving out time for myself, whether it’s soaking up the sun, practicing grounding at the beach, or having a solo dance party to my favorite tunes. After all, how can I guide others on their wellness journey if I’m not taking care of myself first?

Hella Wellthy continues to evolve and grow, I’m grateful for the opportunities to learn, adapt, and become a better version of myself each day. After all, that’s what living a Hella Wellthy life is all about.

What am I most proud of?

What I’m most proud of? Oh, that’s easy — it’s veering of the traditional path and choosing to live in my purpose.

Leaving behind the safety net of a corporate job wasn’t easy. I mean, I was taught to follow the traditional path: go to school, get good grades, land a secure job. But life had other plans for me. After nearly a decade in the corporate world, I was suddenly laid off. It was a moment of truth, a moment where it could’ve paralyzed me, left me questioning my worth and purpose. But instead, it ignited a fire within me — a fire that propelled me towards my true calling . I chose to trust in myself and put my faith in God.

And let me tell you, making wellness my full-time gig has been nothing short of exhilarating. From side hustle to life’s purpose, I’ve poured my heart and soul into creating a business that I am proud of. And as I look ahead to the future, I’m filled with excitement and gratitude for the journey that lies ahead.

But what really lights me up is the opportunity to create a safe haven for people to disconnect from the chaos of the world and reconnect with themselves. I do this through R&R, a transformative experience featuring soundbath healing, mindful stretching and a calming meditation. Check out upcoming R&R sessions in San Diego.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In my journey towards holistic wellness and entrepreneurship, I’ve been fortunate to have an incredible support network comprised of friends, family, mentors, and business coaches. Their guidance, wisdom, and encouragement have played a pivotal role in shaping the woman I am today, and for that, I’m immensely grateful.
Among the many individuals who have left a mark on my journey, Jessica Camille stands out. It was on August 26, 2017, in the vibrant city of DC, that I attended one of Jessica’s transformative events. From the moment I stepped into the space she had created, I felt a profound sense of purpose and clarity wash over me.

Jessica’s event was more than just a gathering; it was a holistic wellness experience—a creative day retreat dedicated to redefining self-care. I remember being so overwhelmed with emotion that tears welled up in my eyes. It was as if everything clicked into place, and I knew deep down that this was the path I was meant to walk—creating spaces where people could prioritize their well-being, cultivate mindfulness, and thrive.

Jessica’s influence didn’t stop there. She introduced me to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where I pursued my health coaching certification. This pivotal step not only accelerated my personal wellness journey but also empowered me to guide others in prioritizing their well-being.
