Meet Chris and Angie Turkett | Owners of Punk Rock Ranch Bee Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris and Angie Turkett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris and Angie, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Punk Rock Ranch Bee Co. started in 2021. We were a chicken farm, hatching up to 300 chicks a week and supplying farms and feed stores with unique chicks, like our favorite breed with Punk Rock Hair feathers; the Polish Chicken. Angie wanted to start beekeeping as a backyard hobbyist, Chris has a commercial beekeeping back ground so when Angie was about to go purchase her first bees, Chris had another idea… We can rescue a hive! We completed out first honeybee rescue and relocation as a couple in 2021 and the rest is history! Angie quickly fell in love with the thrill and devotion of rescuing honeybees, the first year we rescued and rehabilitated roughly 25 honeybee hives, we now rescue and relocate nearly 100 hives a year, mentor new beekeepers, teach the importance of honeybees at local schools, provide pollination services to farms all over California and provide local honey to our community being involved with Farmers Markets in Yucaipa, Redlands and Loma Linda.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Punk Rock Ranch Bee Co. Specializes in the LIVE removal and relocation of honeybees all over the Inland Empire, we offer superior services with guaranteed results and have custom designed our equipment personally, insuring the safe transport and rehabilitation of honeybees which our vital to insure we thrive in our environment. Getting to where we are now was not easy, we had no clue where to start, neither of us have owned our own business and we felt we were starting from nothing, no equipment, no money and no clue where to start. We had big dreams and a hustle attitude, we knew we loved honeybees enough to make this work and we never gave up. We started by building our on equipment by hand, bee-boxes, honeycomb frames, and removal equipment, blood sweat and tears went into starting our company. Rich Hutchison, our friend and fellow business owner, offered his support in helping us start the LLC and file for all our permits and licensing and insurance, We asked tons of questions, made lots of calls and have visited the county offices enough times to make friends, now we help new business owners get started too!
Punk Rock Ranch Bee Co. is a family owned business spreading the joy honeybees give us while insuring the honeybees that help pollinate our crops and bring food to our tables can thrive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are centered in Mentone, its beautiful here! We would start by walking the groves of avocados and oranges then find a nice spot by the creek and enjoy the sunset. We would definitely stop by the GreenSpot Market on Mill Creek Rd to pick up some world famous beef jerky and local goods maybe even some Punk Rock Ranch Bee Co. Honey!
In Yucaipa we would stop by CountyLine Farmers Market every Thursday night 4:30-8:30pm and Saturday Morning 8-1pm where we can support 50+ local vendors including local produce and berry farms, microgreens, crafters, makers, food trucks and more!
located 34900 Oak Glen Rd
In Redlands we would stop by the Redlands Visitor Center to say hi to the friendly staff, learn some Redlands history and check out some really cool hand made items from locals then grab a bite to eat at Escape Brewery and enjoy a hand crafted brew and delicious Detroit style pizza!
While in Redlands we will also visit the Olive Market, grab a specialty coffee and sandwich and relax in this super chill and cozy spot
We would end the trip by waking up early to go the Grove School Farmers market every Saturday from 8am-12 were lots of local farmers come together to provide the community with he freshest food!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our community! We receive so much support from the community, folks spreading the word on social media when honeybees need our services, reviews about our honey and services mean alot to us. We also want to give a special Shout Out to Rich and Gina Hutchison of Happy Mealies in Yucaipa, without their support and knowledge Punk Rock Ranch Bee Co. would not be where it is today. We would also like to Shout Out the folks at Countlyline Farmers Market in Yucaipa and The Grove School Farmers Market in Redlands who have given us a platform to offer our communities the fruits of our labor and spread our love of honeybees with our neighbors.
