Meet LINDSEY URBATCHKA | Wellness Consulting Pharmacist and Patient Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with LINDSEY URBATCHKA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LINDSEY, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After graduating pharmacy school, I got my dream position as a compounding and specialty pharmacist in the Phoenix area. I was immersed the retail pharmacy world that was integrating eastern and western medicine and I absolutely fell in love. Every patient at the counter didn’t necessarily need more medications, they needed lifestyle changes as well. So I began learning to do hormone consults and adding lifestyle changes and supplements to them. I loved seeing the patients get better and grow as people. Less meds more living and if they were on meds, we tried to be on as few as possible. Properly chosen, quality supplements can change one’s life. I spent 7 years really grinding in this environment and then I moved into a smaller space but with the same goals-help people. In this case, it was more niche in compounding but after a couple years, I was in the specialty compound hybrid space again and still providing these “wellness consults.” After giving birth, my body tried to die. I crashed my adrenals and amongst other challenges, reactivated my Epstein Barr Virus (aka mono). If it weren’t for IVs, supplements, eastern and western medicine I wouldn’t be here today. I couldn’t let this experience and knowledge sit – I decided, why just bring this to Arizona, why not launch an online company to help people? So in 2019. I did.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Essentially -I’ve been to hell and back and wouldn’t wish that on anyone else and if you are going through it. I want to help you. You are not alone.
As a pharmacist, I have 15 plus years of experience in specialty pharmacy. As a compounding pharmacist I help clients transform fatigue, analyze their hormones, gut and thyroid health on a daily basis. Elite care and true passion is a must experience at WPC. My background includes: hormone replacement therapy, fertility, thyroid, infectious disease, pediatrics, immunology, pain, hair loss, GI health, autoimmune, transplant, oncology, opthalmology, HIV, HCV, Controlled substance addiction rehab.
I graduated with her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Kansas in 2008 and has a background in specialty and compounding pharmacy. Simultaneously swimming and getting my doctorate, I learned about work and life balance. My specialties and background are extensive; I have lots of personal experience to bring to your plan. As a wife, mother to one kiddo, 2 fur kids-Pip and Cookie, and a full time pharmacist, I’m always juggling a full plate.
As a lifelong athlete, division I swimmer, I continue to enjoy competing and ranking top of my age group in masters swimming at the national level. Even after 2 shoulder surgeries, 1 back surgery, a double mastectomy and a c-section, and a complete hysterectomy, I know how to help you recover and regain yourself.
I’m a BRCA-1 Previvor- what’s this mean? Having the BRCA-1 mutation means an 87% chance of breast cancer, 45% chance of ovarian cancer in my lifetime. In 2015 I underwent a preventative double mastectomy, 2023 a complete hysterectomy. I’m happy to help guide you through genetic testing questions, hormone questions, and fertility questions about passing on genetics.
The Birth of Wellness PharmD-
Being a BRCA-1 mutation carrier, I did not want to pass along the risk of cancer to her child. My husband and I chose to under go the entire IVF process, to get our embryos tested for the BRCA-1 mutation amongst, many others. Having worked as a specialty fertility pharmacist, I knew a lot about what was going on and now having experienced the process, I want to serve as a resource and supporter for all paths of fertility.
After having my son in 2017, I went back to work and as all of us do, taxed her adrenals. Lack of sleep and rest, working full time, while caring for an infant took its toll. By spring of 2018, I had crashed my adrenals and my immune system. I was constantly fighting infections and just trying to stay awake during the day. Through many tests, I discovered I had reactivated her mono-virus, aka Epstein Barr. My doctors didn’t know what to do with me. As a pharmacist, I had access to multiple providers to help support my body on its way to recovery. Although, I got many opinions it was through gut and adrenal support, micronutrient replacement, and hormone replacement therapy, I was able to regain my old self and health.
This is where the concept for Wellness PharmD Consulting was formed. Everyone hits rock bottom. The question is how do we respond? With proper self care and a team to support you.
Along the way, I have become a subject matter expert for IV vitamin and nutrient therapy. I am well versed in the rules and regulations and my business supports multiple clinics and businesses in ensuring they stay in compliance and have safe and effective practices. For me, this is another outlet to share my knowledge and experience and positively influence the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A whole week! Definately Loco Patron for tacos and margs and the best salt and pepper wings in the nation. Olive and Ivy for brunch or a patio in to chat in the winter. It’s right on the water front.
We live between Camelback and Papago so we would want to go hiking on at least one of those and if they brought their kiddos go to the hole in the rock by the zoo. If we had time, I would run them up to Sedona to see the beautiful red rocks, hike, eat, and enjoy the views.
Then we would spend time by the pool just relaxing and laughing.
If they wanted to go shopping then we could go to the boutiques in Old Town or Fashion Square Mall.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I want to shoutout my husband for letting me chase this dream of starting a business and seeing where it grows. He always makes sure I can have some extra time after our kiddo goes to bed to wrap up or he will pick up the cleaning and is the best cook! Sharing these household tasks allows us to have quality time together. I have to give my mom and shoutout, she’s a pharmacist too and she always encouraged me to keep learning and always advocate for yourself in healthcare. I believe that is where my “dog with a bone” attitude comes from. IF you are not getting answers you have to continue pivoting until you get them. The system is hard to work through and just having someone in your corner giving you a sounding board and offering suggestions and hope goes a long ways in finding the answers we all need. Thanks mom! My inspiration for continuing to push myself and business is my kiddo, I want his future to be better and him to know his mom and dad followed their dreams, helping people first and the success will follow.
