We had the good fortune of connecting with Kateryna Sheremet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kateryna, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I have always preferred giving experiences as gifts rather than material things. In 2018, I made the decision to fulfill my husband’s dream and gifted him a skydiving experience for his birthday. I usually enjoy presenting all my gifts physically, and at that moment, I found myself contemplating how to wrap this unique gift.

It turned out to be quite a challenge, as I had to purchase various components separately, print the confirmation letter, and handle several other details. It was not an easy task, but it was worth it in the end.

Now, with Emotcia, we aim to make everyone’s life easier when it comes to gifting experiences. No more hassle, just a simple and convenient way to share memorable moments with your loved ones.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The first thing I want to emphasize, and this won’t come as a surprise to anyone who has ventured into the business world, is that running a business is never easy. However, in my view, it’s crucial to treat your business as if it were a family member. Emotcia marks my third business endeavor, and each one has been bigger than the previous. Emotcia, as a startup, holds a special place in my heart as it’s my first in this category. I am truly passionate about what I do.

Emotcia represents a unique platform where people can purchase thoughtful gifts with choice instead of resorting to mundane gift cards or unnedded presents. We take pride in being a part of people’s dreams coming true or their ventures into new experiences. Even though experience gifts are intangible by nature, we are proud to transform them into tangible, meaningful moments.

We officially launched Emotcia in January of this year, and now we’re gearing up to expand across California and nationwide, sharing our values with everyone. To achieve this goal, we are actively seeking like-minded investors who believe in our mission as strongly as we do. We are firm believers that experiences hold greater value and thoughtfulness than material gifts, and we’re excited to bring this vision to a broader audience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh, you’ve hit the nail on the head with that question, haha! I have a deep passion for city exploration, seeking out new experiences, and revealing those unique, must-visit places, particularly those that often go unnoticed by tourists.

Certainly, I would enthusiastically suggest exploring Emotcia’s outstanding food tour experiences. Personally, I hold them in high regard as they are a particular favorite of mine. I genuinely believe they provide an exceptional avenue for uncovering a city’s culinary treasures.

Moreover, our adventure tours are equally captivating, immersing you in the exploration of both the city and nearby areas, such as the enchanting Coronado.

Additionally, I’m well-acquainted with some hidden natural gems in the area. From the usual tourist hotspots, But from the usual must visit list I’d highly recommend visiting The Cabrillo National Monument and Balboa Park; they offer a delightful blend of natural beauty and cultural richness.

And when it comes to dining, we’re in for a treat! San Diego boasts some incredible restaurants with breathtaking views and mouthwatering cuisine. Places like Mister A’s immediately come to mind, but there are certainly other hidden gems worth exploring.

So, whether it’s uncovering hidden nature spots, enjoying food tours, or indulging in fine dining with a view, there’s no shortage of amazing experiences to be had in our city!

I had the privilege of discovering Emotcia alongside my business partner, Anastasia Rodgers. Finding someone who shared the same mindset and vision to launch our company was a significant milestone for me. In addition to Anastasia, my husband is an unwavering pillar of support in my life. He was the first to hear about and believe in my idea, and his encouragement means the world to me.

Throughout our business journey, we have the pleasure of meeting numerous individuals who contribute to building and growing our company with us. I always believe in the power of people and remain committed to offering help and support whenever possible.
