Meet Serik Slobodskoy | Music Producer & Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Serik Slobodskoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
At the heart of my work, I founded an online music production school, called The Hyperbits Masterclass, where I guide upcoming musicians to create tunes that rival and often surpass, the artists they look up to. In fact, our students have been streamed on Spotify over one billion times – a testament to the impact we have made.
Sure, my own success as an artist is a source of pride, but seeing my knowledge and passion echo through a community of musicians? That’s an unparalleled satisfaction.
As Ramit Sethi put it, “When you combine two or more fields that you love, you can be average at both but be the best in the world at their intersection.” Now, I may not be the world’s best music producer/audio engineer, entrepreneur, or educator, but where all those fields meet I’d like to think I bring a unique blend of skills and experience to the table. And it’s this blend of passion and experience that I love to share with others.
Building a thriving business wasn’t a walk in the park, but it always felt right. I didn’t map out a five-year plan, instead, I followed my intuition. First, I delved deep into music production, then plunged headfirst into entrepreneurship.
Overcoming obstacles was no formulaic process, but I had one cardinal rule – my mental and physical health were non-negotiable.
There are countless lessons I’ve learned along the way, so much so that I wrote an article encapsulating some of my favorite lessons both as an artist and as an entrepreneur.
Ultimately, I want the world to know that persistence and hard work beats talent any day of the week. Whatever your dreams are, whatever your goals are – you can get there. That doesn’t mean pursue them blindly, but show up every day and you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish <3

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man, a week-long visit to San Diego? Strap in, because I’d make sure my best friend experiences the very best of my favorite place in the world.
For starters, we’d eat a lot of tacos. Like a lot. I’d take my friend to a different taco spot each day, like La Puerta, Lola 55, Oscars, Taco Stand, and Lucha Libre.
To balance out the taco gluttony, we’d keep things active. We’d kick off mornings at the Entrepreneur House with a routine of a sauna session and a cold plunge. Plus, we’d get to enjoy nutritious yet mouthwatering dinners whipped up by our house chef.
Our days would be a healthy mix of beaches and urban exploration. Games of Spikeball at Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach would be on the cards, as would a light hike at Sunset Cliffs.
We’d play some golf at Torrey Pines, of course, and likely hit up Coronado’s course as well.
We’d catch a daytime show at Beach House. And after we’re feeling inspired, we’d dedicate at least a day or two to making some music and collaborating on something just for fun.
And finally, we’d cap off the week with a pontoon boat cruise on the bay. Surrounded by friends, we’d crank the tunes, go for some swims, and talk about life. Sounds like a perfect week to me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a shadow of a doubt, there is a chorus of voices that have supported and guided me on my journey as a music producer and business owner. Honestly, I wish I could shout out everyone – every conversation, every interaction, every recommendation, and every person that has helped me get to where I am. There are simply too many music production courses available in the world to have had any impact without everyone’s undeniable support.
But what’s coming to mind is a book I stumbled upon when I turned 30, meant for my 20-year-old self: “The Defining Decade” by Meg Jay. In that book, there is a concept called ‘The Strength of Loose Ties’ that suggests the people that will have the greatest impact on your life will be people who are NOT in your direct network or circle. It makes sense, often times the person that opens the door for us is a loose acquaintance, a friend of a friend, a coworker, etc. In essence, the idea underscores the unexpected value and influence of casual or distant connections.
And after reading that book, I’ve seen life through a different lens. Life’s not just a series of coincidences, it’s a crazy tapestry woven with these ‘loose ties.’
Take my current setup: living in an Entrepreneur House in San Diego with some of the coolest business owners and friends I could’ve imagined. How did I land here? A random game of pickup basketball. One pick and roll, one conversation later, and I’m part of this electric community that’s kick-started the most seismic shift in my life, personally and professionally.
This Entrepreneur House is a hub of ambition, packed with six hungry business owners sharing victories, setbacks, and dreams.
So, here’s to those ‘loose ties,’ the unsung heroes, the off-the-radar contacts that slip into our lives, leaving an imprint far bigger than we could imagine. They might fly under the radar, but their impact is off the charts.
