Meet Anwar Fonseca | Welder, Musician, Skater, Artist, Actor, Painter, Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anwar Fonseca and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anwar, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
My name is Anwar Fonseca, I was born in Mexicali Baja California in 1982. In 1989 we migrated to the United States to Holtville, California.
The language barrier transitioning from Spanish to English was difficult. Learning a foreign language was twice as hard as I had to learn the language and curriculum at the same time.
Going through that as a kid made me stronger in a different way.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The name of my business is Artistic Welding. We build everything from custom gates, beds, chairs, sculptures, water fountains, chandeliers, wall artwork, ext.
The business motto is
“If you can draw it I can build it”
I’ve been in business since 2009. In the beginning, it was easier because it was just myself but now that times have changed and things are a bit more challenging.
The thing I am proud of is the satisfaction of how happy our customers are when we finish a project.
The art welding world is constantly fluctuating as there is a season for our work. It is never at the same time, every year is different and I am constantly adapting to the industry.
I want the world to know that we praise the quality of our work, which is the most important thing to my company the end product, and the satisfaction of our customers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Palm Springs is a perfect getaway. There is the Indian Canyons hiking spot with waterfalls and horseback riding. Downtown Palm Springs has the best food from all over the world. If it’s the right month Coachella Fest is a great event to experience. We are surrounded by casinos, not a big gambler but comedy shows are a huge thing for me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person I will always praise is my mother Maria Cortez who passed away on Dec. 23rd, 2020. She was my biggest supporter, fan, and best friend.
In the welding world, one who I’ve never given credit is Joe Diaz he was my welding mentor and showed me how to put down my first weld.
In the photography & film industry, I would like to recognize my best friend since middle school Paul Samaniego.
As a painting artist, I would like to recognize Chip Flores from Art & Ink Studios for showing me every medium of art there is including tattooing.
