We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Warren and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After moving to San Diego in 2021, I immediately fell in love with everything there is to do and see here. Whether that be the top-notch restaurants and cafes, spectacular views, exciting events, etc, I wanted to fully immerse myself in So Cal culture.

I started taking notes and making content of places I visited each day. From there, I started cultivating a master list of my top spots. For awhile I was unsure what do do with all the information I had gathered, until I had a mutual friend reach out and ask for recommendations while in town. I then had the idea to create a platform that would let me share the things I’d want to do if I only had a few days to explore.

From there, SD Deets was born!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In 2020, I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Sport and Recreation Management. During that time, I worked as a Therapist at a Cryotherapy Spa learning all about different innovative healing machines/devices. Within those 4 years I also worked as a Social Media Intern and Field Marketing Specialist. Post graduation, I found myself working in sales, followed by marketing and events.

This past year, I pursued my lifelong dream of modeling and was grateful to sign with Print + Commercial agencies in Southern California. Aside from modeling, I have been freelancing and exploring new avenues that interest me such as photography (film, digital, and drone), writing, website design, etc.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting San Diego, there are countless places I would recommend for her. Here is my brief idea for the perfect trip!

Starting on Saturday, we would start by putting our name in at Morning Glory in Little Italy for breakfast/brunch. If there is a wait, we will walk around the Farmers Market. We will have an amazing brunch with high-quality food/drinks before heading over to La Jolla. Here we will go to the Contemporary Museum of Art (if not inside then at least walk around the scenic building), before heading to sea lion watch at the Cove. We will then head to Sunny Jim’s Sea Cave at the Cave Store and take the 200 step hike down for the unique view. If we have time before dinner, I’d take her surfing at Tourmaline or La Jolla Shores (great spots for beginners). We would then head to Born and Raised for the best steak dinner around, and enjoy the open roof top and city lights.

Sunday morning we would go to Wayfarer Bread & Pastry in Birdrock and bring our treats to enjoy down by the ocean. After enjoying our pastries, we’d head over to Coronado to visit the infamous Del Coronado Hotel. Filled with rich history and so many things to do, you can spend awhile here soaking it all in.
After spending some time here, I recommend renting bikes and riding around the island. Post bike ride, we would have a fabulous dinner with craft drinks at The Henry.

Throughout the week, I would recommend hikes like Torrey Pines Natural Reserve, La Jolla Trail , Maple Canyon, Iron Mountain, etc. These hikes are normally beautiful, but even more so with the intense bloom we’ve gotten this year.
If we are in the mood for water sports, I would recommend kayaking or snorkling in La Jolla Cove before getting happy hour at Catania or George’s on the Cove.

Aside from what is listed, there are so many areas I’d bring her to. Torrey Pines Gliderport to watch paragliders, Sunset Cliffs at golden hour, Mission Bay to paddleboard, etc. I have countless ideas!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people and things that have inspired me throughout my life and have helped shape the person I am today.

I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my amazing parents, my loving boyfriend, my supportive sister, and my 3 dogs ◡̈
