Meet Amber Delgado | Powerlifting Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Delgado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up in Oceanside with a severely handicapped little sister, so I’ve always been a caregiver and I feel that helped build my appreciation for celebrating the success of others, nothing makes me happier than watching my clients achieve things they didn’t think were possible.

What should our readers know about your business?
My name is Amber and my company is called Aphelian Strength, I work with a wide range of individuals on a journey in pursuit of strength, both in and out of the gym. Everyone is worthy of strength, no matter where they are at in life, and being able to meet them where they are at on any given day emotionally and physically has helped make the most of every training day. I’ve found that it’s easy to put the work in on a good day, but on the hard days it is even more important to stick with the plan and keep your goals in focus. The aphelion of a planets rotation is the point where it is farthest from the sun, so just stick to the path and keep moving forward, your days will brighten up again.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely hit Iron Mongers Gym in Vista, probably to bench press! Then a day trip down to Old Town for sight seeing and ceviche, and a commuter ferry trip over to Coronado because that’s the best way to view downtown.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Glenna for giving me the roadmap to helping those who need it, my husband Mike for mentoring me as a coach and lifter, and Rick Simmons for providing me with the best gym environment to really thrive, and also getting me started on my own lifting journey.
