Cherise Bryant Fitness | Pilates, Dance and Stretch

My passion for dance began when I was a very young girl. My chosen interest were Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance. When I saw my first dance company as a teenager, I was captured by how beautifully they executed their movements. The company was Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and I was filled with emotion. In that moment I knew that I wanted to study dance, work hard, and entertain an audience similar to the artist I saw in the company. As an adult I was able to spend a summer training with Alvin Ailey summer symposium and I also studied dance with Donald McKalye and joined his company at the University of California, Irvine for 4 years. Robyn Ness Alcantar | Self-Taught Photographer, Artist, & Woodworker

There are so many reasons why I chose the life of an artist, woodworker, and small business owner. However, to keep it short and simple, I chose to pursue an artistic career because it makes me happy and it gives my life purpose. Whether I’m woodworking, painting, sculpting, taking photos, singing, or playing the guitar, I’m able to express myself through my creative passions! Additionally, being able to pour my creative spirit into the projects I make is fulfilling in a deeper sense; and when folks support my work, as well as other local artists and small business owners in the Queer and BIPOC communities, it gives me a sense of connectedness.
