What’s Your Why?

We asked some of the most creative folks we know to open up to us about why they chose a creative career path. Check out their responses below.

Since a young age, I had always dabbled in the arts. I remember in 6th grade we were given an option on an English project; read a book and do one of the following; create a 5-page PowerPoint slideshow detailing the book, what it taught you after reading it, & why it might be of interest for someone else to read, or create a 60-second movie trailer essentially showing the entire plotline of the book while all the same giving the viewer the why as to why they should read it. It was no surprise that 95% of the class did the slideshow and spent no more than 30 minutes on the entire project. I however chose to do the movie trailer. Read more>>

I got a job as a high school teacher straight out of college and was prepared to make a career of it. I was pursuing both art and design as a side gig, but hadn’t had enough success yet with either to seriously consider it as a career. When I picked up wood burning, the response to my work was immediate: I got into several art shows and festivals and started selling work about as quickly as I could make it, which was so wild! Well, when I had 7 years old, I saw “Goldeneye”, the first 007´s of Pierce Brosnan, It was a great impact on me and after the show I asked to my mother: “What do I need to make Films?”, she answered was awesome: “Al, only creativity and you have it”, after that, my father apporached to me and told me: “And a lot of money” Hehehehe So… I started since that age to develop my creativity and of course how finance, but that area I´ve been developing since 5 years ago until now.
