We had the good fortune of connecting with ULIANA DORO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ULIANA, what’s your definition for success?
SUCCESS… is hearing that I inspired someone. Either by creating wood burned art for people to enjoy, inspiring somebody to start woodburning, or by pushing boundaries on the mountain. The most inspiring thing for me is courage and passion, when I see it in somebody else, I am fueled in their wonder.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have a deep connection to the outdoors, and I believe people can really see it in my work. I take inspiration from adventures in the mountains or time spent in the ocean. Others who relate also have a deep connection to these places, and on some level can relate to the item that I created. Working diligently at my craft, looking for inspiration with other mediums that will tie into woodwork, and inspiring the future generation of artists and entrepreneurs; these are the things that I strive for in my business. I am thankful to be able to express my creativity in a way for others to relate with.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s go surf! Let’s go hike! Let’s go road biking up to Laguna Mountains! Anything and everything that has to do with adventure in the outdoors. It probably won’t matter which exact hike we’re doing, or if the waves are flat, what matters most is the people that you’re sharing these experiences with.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve always had a creative passion to make things with my hands. I love to work in my dad’s woodshop and get inspiration from his woodwork and all of the wood he has laying around. About 3 years ago, my father handed me a woodburner that he usually uses to sign his work with. I began using it as a tool to draw. Started drawing mountains, trees, camp gear, ocean waves; things that I am inspired by on a daily basis. I loved how fluid and meditative woodburning is and continued it with a passion. So I would like to thank my father for instilling a strong sense of diligent work and inspiration to follow my craft.
