I am inspired by creation itself. This pertains to nature, to humans, to the interaction between both. I found Ceramics through my need to ground and center after hours of delving into the spectrum of humanity emotional narratives – through every day relationships, but also through my profession of acting. It is one of the greatest honors, navigating the inner and outer worlds of another being. Likewise, I am equally infatuated by the malleable nature of working in clay. Mother nature and all her wonderful creatures are truly my biggest inspiration. The light, colors, intricate patterns, and organic forms, all speak to me. My favorite time to spend outside is around golden hour. It’s refreshing and magical to watch the sunlight change and dance across the landscape! For visual inspirations, some things that made an impression on me early in life were Matt Groening’s work (The Simpsons & Futurama), Fisher Price toys and children’s books, Sesame Street, and graffiti in Portland and Brooklyn. Later in life some illustrators whose work I’d fall in love with include Gustavo Dao, Michael Sweater, Eleanor Davis, Molly Mendoza, Sam Alden, Lynda Barry, and Kevin Cannon. Read more>>
