Meet Yurii Yankivskyi | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yurii Yankivskyi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yurii, what inspires you?
The diversity of the earth never ceases to amaze me. I’m drawn and inspired by simple things that surround us. I feel lucky living in the small coastal town with unlimited access to the ocean and good wildlife watching opportunities. However, I would always say yes to a new trip to the mountains. For me inspiration comes directly from seeing new places. There is nothing better than waking up in a new place and see where the road takes me. Traveling teaches me to pay more attention to the present. The world is full of stories to tell.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
While my main source of income isn’t photography I still taking it seriously. Always trying to learn new things along the way. The work of other people pushes me to improve my own skills, it has changed my way of creative thinking. I am happy that I finally developed a clear understanding what I want to do. Was it challenging? For sure! Like everything else in life it’s just a process of trial and error. You just need to keep going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am currently based in Lewes. Despite its a small town it has so much to offer! I would say the first stop will be Cape Henlopen State Park where even in a high season you can still find a peaceful place to spend your day. Kayaking at Trap Pond is another thing on the list. Being a fan of healthy food I wouldn’t miss a chance to take my friends to local cafes like Twist and Seed Eatery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to mention two books authored by Foster Huntington – “Van life” and “Off grid life”. These two books opened my eyes to so many different perspectives about life. The main point – you don’t need much to live a happy life, live by your own rules.
