Meet Vivian Sanz | Mobile Bar Owner and nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vivian Sanz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vivian, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always knew I wanted to own my business but I never knew exactly when or what I wanted that to be, or when the right time to do it was. Well the right time seemed to have chosen itself. I, like so many other nurses, was heartbroken and burned out from all that Covid had thrown at us. I needed something to bring some joy and excitement back Into my life. What better way than by helping others celebrate those momentous occasions in their lives with a nice cocktail in hand.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are The Thirsty Horse, a mobile bar and beverage catering company. Wether it’s a corporate event, a wedding, a sweet 16 or a neighborhood gathering delivering first class service is not only our passion but our highest priority. Our crew is a team dedicated to taking the guesswork out of party planning for our hosts and creating a memorable bar experience that will have their guests talking for years to come.
We feature our vintage horse trailer bar that we lovingly refer to as Magnus. He has definitely grown quite the following.
Growing the business much like so many other entrepreneurs, has had its speed bumps. From having our trailer destroyed at the beginning of our startup and having to completely rebuild from scratch to being trolled on social media because I was a Latina female business owner, emotions definitely made me think twice about why I was even trying. But it was those same people trying to break me down that fueled me to work harder and reach further. And It’s such a proud moment to look back now when I’m booking out almost two years in advance and now that I didn’t let those “bad guys” break me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the Inland empire where we are the gateway to so many opportunities. I am an outdoorsy type so we’d definitely start with a day trip to Joshua tree with a nighttime bonfire to stargaze. A stroll through the shops at Huntington Beach with lunch overlooking the water.
I am a sucker for a great farmers market so the Claremont farmers market followed by brunch at the town square would be a must.
For a little bit longer of a drive, I am a regular traveler to San Diego. And without fail I will always go eat at Casa de Pico, a Mexican restaurant with THE best margaritas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely owe so much of my success to all of my friends, family and supporters who have cheered me on from day one. It’s always been their love and support that has fueled me on those days that I didn’t think I could push any harder.
