We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victoria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The initial thought process behind becoming a professional event planner/face painter was to share my ability with others. For many years I provided these services as volunteer services, and then my began reaching out inquiring my services and abilities.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In the event planning business, you wear different caps, one day you can be hired to setup and create a beautiful balloon garland and the next minute you find yourself being the runner assisting with being an assistant to the host. I love the ability to not have a routine, for things to suddenly change and be more than willing to find positive outcomes for the persons who have had a vision of their dream party come to life. Samen references with facepainting, the smile I see on some children, and even adults are amazing to me. You never realize the happiness some color and a simple rainbow can mean to someone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When friends come in from other countries, my go to is the Griffith Observatory. I like to take them to see the city, the stars and the architecture of the building. We would then go on a scenic hike in Runyon Canyon, then ho for breakfast at the Pantry. An evening walk in the Hollywood Blvd is so iconic to see the walk of fame stars. My citty is also a favorite for site seeing. San Pedro has the Korean Bell which has so much history, we have the Battleship Iowa that never fails to bring my relatives to a jaw dropping awe. San Pedro has great deli’s and diners, we always take family to eat a good Busy Bee sandwich overlooking the cliffs. Other obvious interests are the theme parks, in preference Universal Studios or Disney.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is actually a very intriguing identification. I have a career in Law Enforcement which I love to do! Within my field and upbringing, I saw the different struggles for people to process their visions into a reality, and almost seeming impossible. Growing up we were under privileged and had to make use of what we had, I recall taking free community drawing classes in a local community center. I believe they allowed my artistic talent to currently practice facepainting. The community center also had different activities where we would have to utilize resources to make great outcomes of projects, these workshops I believe allowed my ability to think outside the box and tap into my creativity to find resources for life itself, for me it has helped me in the event planning aspect. Unfortunately, this community center is no longer running, I think they cut it due to funding.
