We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyquan Hodac and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyquan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The main success is serving the mission and others above your individual needs. Leadership is always about serving, and when you build a culture within your organization to be selfless by leading by example from the front, it goes a long way. This promotes healthy relationship amongst team members to be inspired and motivated to work together towards the mission.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey has been a unique one. I graduated from college in 2003 with Honors (Magna Cum Laude) in Business with focus in Management Info Systems since I want to be in the IT industry. However, while I was in college, I got into Breaking aka breakdance. A friend named Bryan Roberts introduced me to Breaking, and I got very good at it to where I became very well known in the world of Breaking. Thus, I crossed path into these two world – one more business professional oriented, the other more artist professional oriented.

So fast forward to now. Today, I am part of a small business that provides IT services to the US Government agencies (our customers). in which I administer, and manage multi-million dollars government contracts such as GSA (Government Services Administration) to make sure we are in compliance with our customers based on the terms agreed upon, and maintain healthy partnerships with our IT partners (i.e. Dell and Synnex) within contractual terms in order to deliver top quality IT services to US government agencies.

On top of that, I am International President of a world-renowned group called MZK Worldwide, aka Mighty Zulu Kingz/Kweenz, with members all over the world with the main emphasize in Breaking. I helped lead MZK to win multiple world champions, and developed MZK to be a brand of its own with high equity value. MZK Worldwide is definitely one of the most recognizable name within the world of Breaking. As a leader of the MZK Worldwide, I focus on leading from the front, and serving my members with a purposeful mission. I emphasize that no one is above the mission within MZK. Leaders build leaders, and all it takes is leading by example. Also, I utilize strategic partnerships approach along with key competitive advantages that MZK has to position us for longevity.

As Breaking will be in the Olympics of Paris 2024, I am one of the Director of Breaking For Gold USA, a breaking division of the non-profit organization called USA Dance, in which we spearhead the Olympics initiative within USA to curate a national infrastructure, and to qualify the very best breaking representatives from the USA to be in Paris 2024.

There were many challenges along the way of course. I was not born in USA, my family and I immigrated to the USA 33 years ago from war torn country. Upon arriving, we had to learn a new language, and cultural norm that were all new to us. Thus, it was very challenging at the time. However, hard times build character. I took these life lessons from a young age with me to help navigate through any type of hardships along my journey. The best experiences are from first hand experiences. I wouldn’t change a thing. My business professional skills came from college, my hustle-grind mentality came from life experiences, my leadership and team player skills came from playing football in high school (team captain varsity football) and being part of MZK where I developed a lot of my leadership and communication qualities having to manage 100+ members all over the world.

I think what I want the world to know is that we have a limited of time in this temporary world. During this limited time of ours, do what’s best to add value to society and serve others. Of course it starts with ourselves FIRST to be the best version day in and day out so then we can serve others. By serving others, with no expectations for anything in return, it will inspired others to do the same. Pay it forward is the foundation of my success and happiness in my journey that we called Life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I live in Southwest Florida so it is very beautiful here on the Gulf side. I would take my friend to all the Islands around where I live like Marco Island, Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Pine Island, Cayo Costa etc. We would take jet ski excursion, rent boats, go snorkeling and diving, go on a day-cruise like Captiva cruise. Visit natural parks with nature trails.

Go over to Orlando (which is only 2 hours from me) to visit Disney World and Universal Studios Florida.

We can hop over to Key West with a boat that only takes 3 hours, and explore all that Key West has to offer.

Of course where I live, seafood is the best! So restaurants here are top quality!

Basically, island hopping, beach, natural wildlife, boat, jet ski, theme park, shopping, and food!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
