We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Skinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Learning to trust myself more. My ideas, my creativity, my inner wisdom. When we take all we’ve experienced and worked on and transform it into something we can stand behind and stand for, that’s the most important thing we can have as entrepreneurs…to make an impact by following our intuition and not listening to too many outside influences.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For years I never believed I was an artist and that my creativity could take shape in the ways of building community. I now see the incredible value that curation, connection, and collaboration can bring to individuals, organizations, and society. This is way bigger than I imagined when I started and working through becoming a leader, an alchemist if you will is not an easy task and it takes courage and belief in yourself.

I overcame the challenges by staying true to my vision and my core values while I was planning, implementation, onboarding and adjusting when necessary. Everything is an iteration and we just keep making changes until we feel like its where it needs to be (for now). hehe. Sometimes, that means starting from scratch and at the end of the day you have to be okay with that.

I want the world to know that you can turn your fear into your fire by diving into discomfort on purpose. Try to allow yourself that opportunity and I promise you’ll be forever changed by it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would just get lost on HWY 1 just cruising to each little beach town and stopping to see new things. First for coffee in leucadia at the Pannikin then checking the waves in Cardiff with a tour of swamis gardens, lunch in Solana Beach and down through Del Mar, Torrey Pines to La Jolla for happy hour and hang out at the children’s pool watching swimmers and sea life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my two girls. They are my main source of motivation and a huge part of my why. I was always taught to leave something better than the way you found it and by building something powerful for women to connect to themselves and feel seen and supported while they navigate big life changes and decisions, I think that is all I need to keep going.
