We had the good fortune of connecting with Taline Gevorkian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taline, why did you pursue a creative career?
My path has been a bit of a winding road, to be honest. I started out by finishing my bachelor’s degree in communications, thinking I’d get a job in marketing or organizational training. I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of communicating in a way that’s intentional, effective, and intuitive, and I felt like I could apply that to pretty much anything. When I finished college, that broad mindset ended up being more of a roadblock because I couldn’t settle on just one thing—I thought I could do it all. So, I decided to switch gears and try law, thinking it would give me the chance to channel those communication skills in a more structured and impactful way.
After college, I also tried starting an app and a brand. It was exciting, but let’s just say they didn’t exactly take off as I’d hoped. I learned a lot from those experiences, though, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything, truly.
Everything shifted after my brother passed away in 2021. It was a really tough time, and I found myself rethinking what I wanted to do with my life. My brother always believed in my creative abilities, probably more than I did. During those painful times, I saw firsthand how much comfort simple things like flowers could bring into people’s lives. My mom, who is forever heartbroken, would only find the strength to get out of the house on the days we went to the flower mart to pick out flowers for my brother’s frame. It was in those moments that I started to realize the power of creativity and beauty, even in the darkest times.
That’s when I decided to really dive into my creative side. I knew I had the mindset of “nothing is impossible,” but I wasn’t sure how to express it. One day, I randomly bought a bucket of pink paint and started moving boxes around in my grandma’s garage. It was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing, but it was exactly what I needed to start exploring my creative side.
Rogue Flowers LA is the result of all those experiences coming together. It’s a brand that’s all about resilience, creativity, and the idea that beauty can make a real difference in people’s lives. I’m grateful for all the ups and downs because they’ve brought me to where I am today. Life is short, and it can be really hard, but if we can bring a little joy into someone’s day with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, then I think we’re doing something pretty special.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Getting to where I am today professionally has been a journey full of challenges, learning, and growth. It definitely wasn’t easy, but every hurdle taught me valuable lessons that shaped Rogue Flowers LA into what it is today.
Starting out, I was driven by a love for creativity and a desire to bring something unique to the world. But like any entrepreneurial journey, there were obstacles—whether it was figuring out how to stand out in a competitive market or balancing my own vision with the practical realities of running a business. There were moments of doubt and plenty of setbacks, but I learned that resilience and adaptability are key. Each challenge became an opportunity to refine my brand and push the boundaries of what Rogue Flowers LA could be.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the power of authenticity. Rogue Flowers LA isn’t just about selling flowers; it’s about creating an experience, an emotion, and a connection. Every arrangement is crafted with care, and each design tells a story. This focus on authenticity and connection has been at the heart of overcoming the challenges I’ve faced. It’s what keeps me motivated and what I believe sets my brand apart.
I want the world to know that Rogue Flowers LA is more than just a business to me. It’s a reflection of my journey, my passions, and the values that have guided me. My brand is about celebrating beauty, resilience, and the small moments that make life special. It’s about showing appreciation for the people we care about and finding joy in the details. I’m incredibly proud of what Rogue Flowers LA has become, and I’m excited to continue growing and sharing this journey with the world.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Monday: Pick her up, grab In-N-Out—because it’s a must.
Tuesday: Breakfast at Malibu Farm Café, beach stroll, then Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade. Keeping it chill on a weekday.
Wednesday: Explore Melrose, drive through Hollywood and Beverly Hills, then hit up Sunset Blvd for Saddle Ranch or Pinches Tacos.
Thursday: Flower Mart run, explore downtown, grab Leo’s Tacos or Korean BBQ.
Friday: Work, squeeze in foodie spots like Hot Wings Café and Kazunori.
Saturday: Tourist stuff if she’s up for it, but I’d rather show her the Valley and take a scenic drive through Topanga Canyon before the airport drop-off.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I reflect on how I got to where I am today, it’s clear that my parents have played an enormous role in shaping my journey. Their support, guidance, and love have been the foundation of everything I’ve accomplished, and I’m incredibly grateful for all the ways they’ve influenced me.
My mom has been in the entertainment industry for over 25 years, working primarily in finance, but she’s always been so much more than her job title. Growing up, I had the unique experience of walking around the lot with her—seeing the mobs of people standing in line for the Ellen show, watching the Pretty Little Liars golf carts zoom around, trying out all the food places where the employees would grab lunch, and even exploring the iconic New York set that seemed to be in every movie. I’d walk around with a fake phone call, pretending I was someone important, soaking up the atmosphere of the industry that felt both exciting and full of possibilities.
But what really stands out to me is how my mom went above and beyond her role in finance. She was always the one who would set up flowers and organize events for her coworkers’ big life moments. These weren’t company-sponsored events; they were her way of showing genuine appreciation and love for the people she worked with. I remember helping her set up these huge, creative, DIY events in luxurious spaces, where we’d get so imaginative with the details. It was never about recognition or publicity; it was about making people feel special. That’s something that’s stuck with me in my own work—this idea that the details matter, and that showing appreciation and care for others can make a real difference.
My dad, on the other hand, has always been a constant source of creativity and resilience. As a musician, composer, and teacher, he’s rebranded himself countless times throughout his life. He plays every instrument, writes music, and has won numerous awards for giving back to the community. Even at 62, with a stent in his heart, he’s still out there on the weekends, directing, teaching, and spreading his love for music and culture. He’s always emphasized the importance of knowing your history and connecting with your culture through the arts, which has deeply influenced my own approach to creativity. My dad’s journey—from being born in Iran, living in London, and eventually moving to LA—has shown me the power of adaptability and staying true to your passions, no matter where life takes you.
Both of my parents are immigrants, and their experiences have been instrumental in shaping my personality, confidence, and leadership skills. They’ve taught me the importance of resilience, creativity, and giving back, and these values are central to everything I do. Whether it’s in my work with Rogue Flowers LA, or wherever life takes me, I carry their lessons with me every day.
I wouldn’t be here without their love, mentorship, and the countless ways they’ve encouraged me to keep going, even when things got tough. They’ve shown me that success isn’t just about the big moments; it’s about the journey, the hard work, and the people who lift you up along the way. So, this is a huge shout-out to them—thank you, Mom and Dad, for everything. Your support means the world to me, and I’m so grateful for all the lessons, love, and encouragement you’ve given me.
