Meet Symone Carpenter | Model & Business Woman

We had the good fortune of connecting with Symone Carpenter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Symone, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As of lately, if I’m being 100% honest, it has been pretty tough trying to keep a healthy work life balance. I run Divine Symmmetry, my jewelry business, all by myself and in addition to that, I work a full time day job, I model, and I braid hair. I even started Real Estate courses in the beginning of 2021, however that took a backseat to all of my other endeavors. The biggest change I have made is I cut back on my social life. I used to go out a lot and spend a lot of time with my friends, but lately I just can’t find the time. One thing I will be sure to do is take breaks from everything as much as I need to so that I don’t burn myself out. I’ve done that before in the past and it left me feeing defeated.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me and my brand apart from others is my versatility. I love to push the boundary and experiment with new things. A huge part of my life at the moment, aside from Divine Symmmetry, is modeling. I have been modeling for about 2 years now and I love it! I started doing it as a hobby and now I’m sure I want to do it professionally. While modeling, I discovered my passion for anklets and decided I wanted to share them with the world. I would always wear my anklets in every photo shoot I did and eventually people would ask about them, so I said “Hey, I should start selling these!”
Between modeling and running my jewelry business I have faced some bumps in the road. Sometimes there are days or weeks when no one is booking me or shopping with me and I have to be my own biggest fan and keep pushing. It can be extremely discouraging at times, but then I think about the life I wish to live and that is what keeps me going.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend comes to visit me in San Diego, we’re definitely catching a movie at the Rooftop Cinema Club! It’s such a cool experience and I want everyone to go lol. I’d take them on a ferry ride during the day and we’d have drinks and food. I’ve done that a couple times and it’s so relaxing. You can do an hour or two and they take you under the Coronado bridge! For dinner we’d definitely have to stop by Louisiana Purchase. The food there is AMAZING. If you’re into soul food it’s a must! If we’re in a dancing, night life mood then we’d go to Vybz Nightclub. I’ve been there a handful of times and the music is always on point.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As cliché as it might sound, I really do owe it all to my family and close friends. They keep me sane and allow me to completely be me. There’s many times when I feel lost, confused, or unsure and the first thing I’ll do is hop on a FaceTime call with one of them. They let me vent and give me amazing advice (even when I don’t want to hear it lol).
I want to give a very special shoutout to my friend Vero. Divine Symmmetry might have still been in the dark if it wasn’t for her! She pushed me and helped me see my own potential during times when I doubted myself and wanted to give up. She’s basically my business partner, friend, therapist, confidant, mentor… the list goes on lol. I love you girl!
