Meet Surf City Promotions | Entertainment & Event specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Surf City Promotions and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Surf City, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success is community and relationships . At Surf City Promotions, we’ve never been about just throwing events for profit or making quick connections, we are focused on building real, lasting relationships that grow and thrive for everyone involved.
We see our network of artists, DJs, venues, and creatives as a family, not just a roster to provide a service.
When we started Surf City Promotions we wanted to create events that were high energy, accessible, and different from the typical bar or club scene in San Diego. Our focus has always been on giving local talent and venues the platform to reach larger audiences, while also giving people a place to experience something fresh and authentic. From our Battle of The Bands to our DJ showcases our commitment to collaboration, growth, and inclusivity is what drives everything we do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Surf City Promotions is all about creating experiences that feel alive. We’re not trying to be another events company, we’re building a culture. From day one, our focus has been giving local artists, DJs, and venues the visibility they deserve while curating shows that bring high energy and real connections. People don’t just come to watch a set; they come to be part of something bigger.
What sets us apart is that we’re not afraid to take risks. Our first show was built purely on trust, no big name, no clout, just a belief that good music and genuine vibes would carry it, and it worked. That night laid the foundation for everything Surf City is today. Since then, we’ve turned what started as a passion project in college into a movement that keeps growing with every event.
It hasn’t been easy. We’ve dealt with last-minute cancellations, tight budgets, and plenty of “are these guys legit?” moments. But every challenge forced us to level up, and that grind is what shaped us. The biggest lesson? Stay authentic, put the community first, and don’t lose the energy that got you started.
At the end of the day, Surf City Promotions is about more than just shows, it’s about creating a platform where creatives can thrive, where new sounds get discovered, and where the crowd leaves knowing they were part of a moment. We’re here to shake things up, and we’re just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d kick things off with a stop at Rose Donuts which is a staple for every student at the University of San Diego known for that classic local breakfast. Definitely hit The Friendly for one of the best burgers in town. Of course, no trip would be complete without catching one of our shows, because that’s where the real energy of the community comes alive.
We’d take them out to Mission Beach and Pacific Beach to soak up the sun, hit the boardwalk, and maybe even jump in the ocean. Nights would be about exploring the city’s creative side checking out local speakeasies like Part Time Lover to grab a drink with friends and connect with the people who make San Diego’s scene so unique.
At the end of the day, San Diego is more than just beaches and palm trees, it’s a city full of wonderful people, food and more.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, we have to thank our closest family and friends. Their encouragement and belief in us from day one has been the foundation of everything we do. We’re also grateful to the University of San Diego for giving us the knowledge, resources, and connections to turn a late college idea into a business and for introducing us to so many people who continue to be part of this journey today.
A special shoutout goes to White Girl Wednesday, The Foam, Liar’s Corner, and Slacker. These bands trusted us enough to jump on board for our very first show, even as new event hosts on the scene. Their support and willingness to take that leap with us laid the groundwork for everything Surf City Promotions has growing into.
We also want to recognize Aiden Solano, whose insight into scouting bands and navigating the music world has been a huge asset, as well as Cade McLean Photography, whose eye behind the lens has captured the raw energy of our events and helped us share that spirit with a larger audience.
At the end of the day, it’s the community our family, friends, artists, and creatives that makes Surf City Promotions what it is. They’re the heartbeat of everything we do, and our success wouldn’t be possible without their trust, passion, and collaboration.
