We had the good fortune of connecting with Sue Prescott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sue, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor in a successful event planning company is customer satisfaction. I pride myself in guiding my clients to take any occasion and make it personal and memorable. I am creative in using personal items as well as rentals to inspire cohesive theme and style.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always approached every event with a creative eye and focus on display and details. For the past three years I’ve used my creative eye to design graze tables and stations resulting in food that looked and tasted delicious. Now with the concerns of display food, I’ve pivoted this same concept to create personal grazing boxes for clients to enjoy. Event planning was always a passion of my so starting my own business felt so natural. When my children were younger, I was a volunteer at PTA, and team mom and used my talents for the various events. I also volunteered my time for several charity organizations and participated on the board for large scale galas, including the Grand Opening of the Hyatt Hotel in Huntington Beach. Challenges are just a way of looking and approaching something in a different way or “looking outside of the box” Challenges motivate me! My approach is always personal and fresh even on a corporate event. I value my relationships with all the vendors that I work with and I make sure we all know that every Sue Prescott Event is a TEAM approach.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am blessed to live in Huntington Beach for the last 33 years. This is a destination town with corporate conference, destination weddings and events. I would start with a welcome cocktail party at my home and bring in food from my favorite local catering company, Love at First Bite Catering. During the week visit, I would also show them why I love my city and show them the local spots downtown. We would start with a walk on the pier followed by a visit to all the shops on Main street No visit would be complete without a day at the beach and my all-time favorite, Dwights on the strand strips and cheese! I love the Waterfront Hilton Hotel and think it is a great place to stay if they are looking for luxury and beachfront views. Fun fact, every September on the first day of school, I would organize all the moms to have breakfast at the Waterfront Hilton!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Husband and children. I’ve been in the industry for 26 years and with their support and encouragement, I have risen to where my business is today. My Husband has always been my sounding board. We use the hash #teamprescott within our family to encourage and inspire success. My Daughter, following in my footsteps works as a sales and event manager for resorts, and works with my on new trends and brainstorming. She was the one to push the re-brand over a year ago and with the change of my name and new logo, my business tripled in 2019.
