Meet Simone Ressner | Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

We had the good fortune of connecting with Simone Ressner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Simone, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I started my acupuncture practice in San Diego ten years ago, my primary motivation was to make high-quality, personalized acupuncture care accessible to more people. I saw a gap in the existing models—community acupuncture clinics were more affordable, but often lacked the depth of personalized care that I believe is essential for long-term healing due to time constraints. On the other hand, private clinics offered that level of care, but at a price point that was simply out of reach for many individuals or kept people coming in inconsistently without getting the results.
I wanted to create something different. My vision was to offer the best of both worlds: in-depth, individualized treatments at a price that didn’t make people choose between their health and their budget. That meant taking time with each patient, conducting thorough medical intakes, using well-researched treatment protocols, and incorporating targeted supplements when appropriate. This approach allows us to address not just symptoms, but root causes—something that’s not always possible in faster-paced or lower-cost models.
Over the past decade, I’ve stayed committed to this model because I’ve seen firsthand how much more effective acupuncture can be when it’s deeply personalized. Whether someone is dealing with chronic pain, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, or digestive issues, we design a plan that’s truly tailored to their needs. Our clinic has become a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered on their healing journey—without the financial strain that often comes with high-quality integrative care.
Ultimately, starting this business was about aligning my clinical values with accessibility. I didn’t want excellent care to be a luxury; I wanted it to be the standard. And I’m proud that, ten years later, that mission still guides everything we do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I founded Source Acupuncture in San Diego nearly ten years ago with a clear vision: offer truly personalized, accessible acupuncture—far beyond what standard community clinics typically deliver. From the beginning, we prioritized intensive one-on-one medical intake, integrating herbal and nutritional support, using proven protocols, and building a model that didn’t skimp on quality even while offering affordability.
What sets us apart is our dual approach: the Healing Lounge, a warm luxury community-style environment where collective intention enhances healing, and our private treatment rooms for people seeking deeper individualized care—with the same high clinical standards across both options. Every session—even in the lounge—begins with a medical intake and assessment, plus the inclusion of herbal medicine and nutritional guidance tailored to each person’s condition and labs.
I’m most proud of how we combine deeply individualized care—integrating Western lab work and Traditional Chinese Medicine—with a membership-based pricing structure that encourages ongoing wellness rather than one-off visits. With a mission to make it easier for clients to prioritize their health consistently, we are proud to be a part of turning our current healthcare system of “sick care” into health optimization and we’ve delivered over 100,000 treatments.
We’ve also learned the importance of combining empathy and systems—tracking outcomes, listening deeply, and evolving care based on real feedback.
Lessons along the way: trust the process, listen to your clients, and build systems that support your values. It’s not just about treating symptoms—it’s about teaching people how to hold their own health long term.
What I want the world to know: Source is more than a clinic—it’s a healing model built on accessibility, community, and integrative intelligence. Our philosophy is simple: wellness should be exceptional, inclusive, and effective. I’m proud that our story reflects what’s possible when care stays personal, evidence-based, and affordable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are fortunate to be located in one of the prime spots I would take a friend visiting: come get yummy food and coffee at any of the local baristas just next door and then walk the boardwalk to Mission beach. Visit the seals at La Jolla, and then come end the day with a relaxing acupuncture session at Source Acupuncture!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I feel immense gratitude for the incredible support I’ve received throughout this journey. My deepest thanks go to my love, Paul Bloch, whose unwavering belief in me has been a constant source of strength and encouragement. I’m also profoundly grateful to the staff here, and the many friends who have stood by me (too many to name), including Larry Michel (for his unfaltering and immense support, wisdom, and skill) and Trent Habstritt—your generosity, wisdom, and friendship have meant more than words can express.
To my mentors—Alex Kip, Kane and Alessia, and James and Delsey—thank you for guiding me through the challenges and growth of building a heart-centered business. Your insights and support helped shape not only how I show up as a practitioner, but how I lead with purpose and integrity. I truly couldn’t have done this without the community that surrounded me, believed in me, and inspired me to keep going—even when it was hard.
And last but definitely not least: to the San Diego community—thank you for welcoming this clinic, for trusting me with your care, and for showing up again and again. Your support, your word-of-mouth referrals, your feedback, and your commitment to your own healing have helped this business grow in ways I never could have imagined. I’m honored to serve such a vibrant, conscious, and compassionate community.
