We had the good fortune of connecting with Sidney Haitoff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sidney, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was pretty straightforward. I saw a massive problem that needed to be addressed, that impacts millions of people, and that no one was tackling in an effective way. I pushed it off for the better part of a decade before I started taking small steps towards starting Mishe. It got to the point where I knew I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t pursue it, so I didn’t have much of a choice. I’m not afraid of failing, but I was very afraid of starting. I joined full time about 18 months after forming the entity and have been at it for 11 months since then. Starting Mishe was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We’re building a nationwide direct access care network that bypasses insurance and connects people directly with local licensed clinicians at their cash prices. The mishe Pay-As-You-Go Healthcare® Marketplace gives everyone access to affordable healthcare regardless of insurance or employment status, and empowers clinicians and consumers to Take Back Healthcare from the grips of insurance carrier middlemen.

Pure grit, determination and faith got me here today. It was not easy, but I didn’t give myself a choice. When you only have one option, focus gets clearer and you make things happen. I’ve learned not to count your chickens before they hatch and always hedge your strategies.

I want the world to know that Mishe is coming to disrupt and heal healthcare in a big way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh man, I’ve done this quite a few times. Definitely going to leave a lot out, but I’m going to go in geo order. Torrey Pines Twilight Golf, Torrey Pines nature walk down to the water, Ho Chi Minh Trail, Surf Blacks Beach, SUP La Jolla Cove and see the caves and leopard sharks, dinner at Marine Room or Eddie Vs. Pics with seals. Brunch at Duke’s or George’s. Redbull slushies at Shore Club. Fish Tacos at Oscars. Big Breakfast at Konos. Capri, Son at Miss Bee’s. Cali Burrito at Taco Stand. PIZZA LUIGI. Crack Shack. In n Out. Oxford or Pool House. Beer and a slice at Moto at the seaport. Drinks at American Junkie (what up, Mark). Balboa Park and the Prado. Coronado. The Del. etc etc etc

My sisters!! They’ve encouraged me, challenged me, and have rooted me on through my life’s ups and downs. They’re my muses and my ultimate motivation to make a positive difference on the world.
