We had the good fortune of connecting with Sher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sher, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Creating Kaya Coffee brand with the focus of encouraging and supporting people, as well as other small businesses in helping promoting their brands through a cup or can of coffee. The goal would be to provide more than just an amazing can of cold brew. It’s about sending motivation—a small nudge to help someone push through their day. Coffee is always a conversation starter, so if anyone is looking to promote / market their business, use Kaya Coffee, as it also roots for you.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a coffee enthusiast and love supporting fellow small businesses. In the past, I ran a coffee cart brand, MeKa Coffee, that catered to private events. However, during the pandemic, I put the business on hold to focus on creating cherished memories with my daughters, Mena and Kaya. After completing my master’s in healthcare, I felt a strong pull to return to the coffee world. Inspired by my girls and the way they always cheer each other on, I decided to combine my passions. That’s how I created a ready-to-drink cold brew designed for busy moms like me—offering not just a boost of energy, but also a reminder that we’re here rooting for each other every step of the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ah! If my best friend was in town, we would definitely go on a coffee crawl and wine bars. We would walk around different coffee shops in North Park, start on 30th street, Holsem, Dark Horse & Love Song. Make our way to new wine bars in the area. Conversations often start with coffee bars and wine bars. Would definitely share a flight wine 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The two little entrepreneurs Mena & Kaya as they continue to show example of rooting for each other in anyway they can. This is all for these two girls who keeps me going and supports every little thing mommy does.
