We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Sellers and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelby, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
One of the most important principles to us is being able to be size-inclusive. We never want to be a boutique that only straight sizes can shop at. We want anyone, regardless of what they look like, to be able to shop with us and find cute clothes that are the exact same whether you are a size Small or a size 5x! Being size-inclusive was actually one of the drives that pushed us to start Bag It Up Boutique from the beginning, so maintaining that inclusivity will always be our first priority!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bag It Up Boutique actually started out as a Poshmark store. We started by sourcing purses, then shoes, but have finally settled on clothing as our main focus! We still run our Poshmark closet and post new items daily, but every day we shift more and more focus to our website to help become a more independent company. This business method allows us to essentially cover two bases under one name. If our e-commerce website is having a slow month, we can always rely on our Poshmark closet to pick up all of the slack when it comes to sales and vice versa.

It definitely hasn’t been an easy journey for us. Like all businesses, we’ve had our own highs and lows, but I truly think it’s the way you overcome those challenges that sets you apart from others and defines your character. We’re lucky enough to have an amazing team of hardworking people that are passionate about what we do, and we hope that as we grow, others can see that and are inspired as well!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think that So-Cal is really one of the best places in the country to visit for the first time. From our weather to food, to geographical diversity, there are very few areas like here. I mean how many places do you know where you are able to go to the beach, the snow, and the desert all in one day? It truly is a blessing to not only live, but run a business in this beautiful, albeit expensive “melting” pot of a state (pun intended)!

If I had a friend visiting So-Cal and we had limited time to explore, my first thought would definitely be to take them to the LA area to try and visit all of the various museums, parks, and sights that we could. Once we got hungry, I knew we’d have literally thousands of options from all types of cuisine to choose from, all within 30-40 minutes of each other! Every day we could literally pick a new themed activity to do, and not have to worry about whether or not that exists “around here.” If you can look past the price, traffic, and extreme summer heat, So-Cal is definitely hard to beat!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! Every business relies on its employees to do amazing work, and we are no different! Our girls are absolute workhorses, and simply put, we wouldn’t be where we are today without their consistent hard work and support! We’re also very fortunate to have amazing customers who both love our vision and, just as we do, strive to encourage the clothing industry to be more size-inclusive! It’s truly been a blessing to be surrounded by the constant overwhelming support, and it just motivates us to be better and push harder every day!
