We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayne Wells and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shayne, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I’ve had to make was starting my business. There was a lot of fear and anxiety behind making the decision to leave a stable job that although didn’t make me completely happy, but provided comfort and consistency. I’m a firm believer, for myself at least, that growth, learning, and potential comes within the times of being uncomfortable and challenged. I struggled with the risk of starting my own business of not knowing where it was going to take me, which was a scary thought. The fear of the unknown for me, especially within the workforce, was something that kept me from taking the jump until I ultimately decided to genuinely follow my dreams and do what I love. It consisted of a lot of trial and error and endless hours of research, learning and developing. Looking back at where I started, I wouldn’t of changed this journey and grew through the challenges of getting to where I am today.

What should our readers know about your business?
As a social media agency and marketing professional, I’m always looking for ways to connect with my clients. What sets us apart from others is our willingness to work together, we make our clients feel like they’re a part of our business too. We want our clients to succeed and work with people and businesses we believe in and share our business values. It wasn’t easy getting to where I am today with the numerous of challenges that came about, including starting from square one on how to start a business in general. I self-taught myself about website development, researched endless social media and marketing trends, and though I knew how to market other people/businesses, I had to learn how to market myself! It was very time consuming and trust me, I made a lot of mistakes. But so much growth came from this experience and I’m extremely thankful for the path and journey I’ve been on.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting in town for a week, I’d make sure to hit all the good food spots! For breakfast or brunch, hitting downtown and going to Gaslamp Breakfast Company for their French toast is a must. For some day drinks, definitely going to Ballast Point Brewery in Miramar, my fav spot! We can’t forget to go to Pacific Beach to spend the day in the sand and grabbing and ice cream sandwich from Baked Bear. For some night life and good pasta, we’re going to Little Italy, it’s tough choosing between the restaurants there, but would have to take my bestie to either Monello or Bencotto. Of course if baseball is in season, we’d have to go to Petco Stadium and watch a Padres game.

To end my bestie’s vacation, we’re taking a pickup truck to Sunset Cliffs and having a cliff-side sunset picnic with Prosecco and sandwiches from Chris’s Liquor and Deli.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Growing up, my sister, Kelsey, was a creative in the family I looked up to. She moved to Los Angeles at a young age and dove right into the fashion and entertainment business. She loved working within the fashion industry, and all the creative paths it took her down which led her to create her own fashion blog and talked all things trending in the industry. I admired her ability to stay in touch with her creative side, while becoming a mother to three beautiful children and kick-starting her event and wedding business. Being in a family that works so hard, I was always motivated to work hard for myself too. My sister paved the way as a hardworking example, so giving her the recognition of supporting and motivating my entrepreneurial adventure as a social media agency and marketing professional is always a must!
