We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawn, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I am not afraid of risk. You will not gain anything if you’re not a risk taker. There’s always a learning curve to every risk you take. Whether you win or lose, there’s always something to learn. You just have to not be afraid, learn from it and move on.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Back in the early 2000’s, my friend and I opened a retail store carrying multiple brands and soon realized people from the city of Long Beach had a lot of pride for their hometown. We began creating gear focused on Long Beach and soon realized we had something unique to the city: Long Beach branded apparel. It was a way for locals to show pride for the city they love.

Next year Long Beach Clothing Co. will be celebrating its 20th year anniversary and I am proud that we have been able to reach this milestone in business. It has not been an easy road. We’ve had our challenges and set backs but have always managed to overcome and succeed. I am proud to say that Long Beach Clothing Co. is the original Long Beach clothing brand. We’ve even had the honor of having celebrities such as Snoop Dogg and Steve-O wear our apparel.

There were many times I wanted to give up but thinking about the amount of time I have invested and the people who have supported me along the way is what keeps me going. In addition to Long Beach Clothing Co., I also work full-time while running other businesses. I work 24/7. There’s always something to do. I am a go-getter and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
